In my opinion, the used terms point out to a registration or re-registration on the day after the disappearance. Otherwise the BKA would have used an other ductus, like "Zur Tatzeit war das Fahrzeug in Augsburg zugelassen" what would mean, at the time of the disappearance the vehicle was registered in Augsburg.
If you know what i mean. So if you asked me, the re-registration of the JAG the day after the disappearance to AB, could have been some kind of a try to cover tracks. IMO the Jag must have been in Germany at the time, because a registration requires to hand over the former "papers" of the vehicle.
So if he brought one of his cars to germany before the disappearance and left shortly after with the T3, it looks like some kind of planned behavior to me.
