That Sky report doesn't sound very credible. <modsnip - personalizing>

This could easily have been checked in the past since he says he went to 2 police stations at the time. I think now this is derailing us and the media are just trying to say something since it appears they have no Intel

It's best to wait for official sources, not quotes attributed.

I think we can see from the size of this operation it has to be based on solid work. There is no way they are spending all this money just because some guy wrote a book IMO.

Especially in a cold case so many years later, I don't think you'd be able to spend 10s of 1000s or even 6 figures on just general clearance of areas.

They must have something specific.

We'll have to wait and see what they come up with.
Grange have spent Circa £13 million and it's appears not to be involved, their digs in 2014 must have been built on intlel, they both can't be right but of course can be both wrong, nothing to see here, move along.

I personally think MT knows more, maybe also where CB hung out around Madeleine's disappearance.

The 2014 digs were the result of all the work the Met did on the case. And the failure effectively lead to the winding down of their effort.

This is exactly what I mean. You won't get sign off for such huge and public efforts based on a mere hunch. Finding nothing much is not only publicly embarrassing, it can be bad for the budget holder.

BKA have a lot riding on this. IMO

Yes, failure here could well be the end of their investigaion.
There's only so much money can be thrown at any investigation and BKA must be under enormous pressure to come up with something incriminating, or else pack up.

According this Sun article they’re set to pack up early and finish today ..!
That would seem strange considering all the effort to get warrants , expense and hassle of getting personnel / equipment there .
Would have expected them to at least stay for period they had been approved for , seeing as they are there anyway .. !?

Maybe they got what they wanted? Or maybe we shouldn't believe the Sun?

i think if they'd found anything of interest, they would extend their stay to the maximum in the expectation of finding further evidence.
Probably better to distrust the Sun report until corroborated.

It would be nice if they found what they wanted, though the article mentions a quote from a ‘source close to the investigation’ saying:

“It’s very disappointing but nothing taken away from the search area so far has provided any clues.”

Hopefully, the Sun is not correctly informed and there has been some significant findings.

Fingers crossed he had some helpful information, fortunately his testimony is the reason CB is not walking the streets NOW.
and probably part of the reason he was acquitted of all charges in court last year

Quite the opposite, if he had not of reported the videos he had seen the BKA would not have asked the PJ to investigate similar cases and surprise surprise CB hair was found at the DM sa. IMO proof the video existed .

Perhaps. He and MS were awful witnesses last year in court.

Ex MET cop had this to say.

All of that said, however, when it comes to the fundamental question of whether these searches will finally find some trace of Madeleine and explain how and why she disappeared in 2007, I am still fairly pessimistic. The suspicions about Brueckner, whilst substantial, fall a long way short of being any sort of proof of his involvement. He may well be the best suspect presently known to officers but there are others, known and unknown. Even more fundamentally, we are still not absolutely sure what happened to Madeleine that night. There are several other possible explanations which cannot be eliminated, even after nearly twenty years of international investigation.

Madeleine McCann search officially ENDS: Agony as JCB, radar & fingertip trawl of Brueckner’s ‘rat run’ turns up nothing

There was an option to extend the search until tomorrow if any clues had been found - but cops turned up "nothing of consequence".

Despite initial suggestions samples collected during the search would be sent to Germany for analysis, Portuguese sources this afternoon confirmed that would not happen.

Animal bones and adult clothing were unearthed, but no traces linked to Madeleine McCann, so there is no cause for further inspection.

A Portuguese police officer told The Sun: “We have found nothing. There is nothing worth being sent to Germany for testing. We are finishing today."

They said it would be extended if they found anything. Apparently they haven't so its finished. Weird they didnt search the other sites they said about though.
