I think the Intel must have been for one of the abandoned farmhouses, with no more specificity as to which one, that is why they searched 5-6 of those in that area. If nothing was found, that doesn't mean nothing exists... I am always sceptical about such brief search operations! When they search for missing persons, they spend days from dawn to dusk searching, now they have a normal working day 9-5 digging/clearing and then putting everything back as these are private properties... I don't really understand how the expect to find something like that jmo

That's right, if you don't look in the right place you'll never find what you are searching for.

There's no certainty where she might be, possibly not near to where she disappeared, or even in Portugal.
I think this is now the end - a most unsatisfactory end.

These recent searches ( which we should be grateful for .. imo ) seem to have focused on places CB ‘may’ have frequented , according recent coverage .

However I’m curious how thoroughly places like the Foral villa , or the Escola Velha property , and especially their surrounding grounds , have been searched ?
( mentioned in attached links )
Those are both places CB is known to have frequented .

Although I guess any disposal would be more likely somewhere more removed from CB residence , would they not have warranted a look at with the ground radar they were using ?

If I recall correctly Peter Tobin buried remains in garden of a property he used ..

So it seems. Not quite as spectacularly wrong as HCW and company. It looks like they’ve been investigating the wrong guy for seven years. I wonder if they have any regret about telling the world he murdered MM without any hard evidence.

Overnight from the Mail, we've not heard from HCW for awhile.

The head of the German force leading the fresh searches for Madeleine McCann told a friend who wished him luck: ’Thanks, we need it.’
Rainer Grimm, boss of the BKA, Germany’s equivalent of the FBI, is in Portugal overseeing the search which ended yesterday.

His apparent lack of confidence in the operation to his pal echoed what many have seen as the ‘last throw of the dice’ for investigators looking to solve the 18-year riddle.

But sources close to the investigation said that ‘only animal bones and bits of old adult clothing’ have been found in the estimated £300,000 operation.

One officer told MailOnline: 'We always knew it was going to be a waste of time but we have to show cooperation.

'What did they expect to find after 18 years? We were happy to work with them but we knew it would be a waste of time.

One can only assume that BKA had great faith in the reliabilty of their informant.

Probably not as it bolstered the impression that CB was guilty, which was no doubt their intention.
Their failure to find any incriminating evidence to support this in no way diminishes that image in the eye of the public.

I think they'll throw in the towel now, but if they don't, they should examine whether paedophilia was ever involved at all, and who started OG down that path in the first place.

Having said that, if they don't have a German suspect, then they will have no interest in pursuing the case any further

It may influence the mildly interested. However, if you read the comments on recent news and YouTube stories, you’ll see that scepticism is alive and well. The story as a whole has received so much coverage it’s part of the zeitgeist so more people have a firm opinion than in less well known cases.

There's long been coverage and comment on Youtube as its one of the few platforms where peeople can voice their opinions freely

That’s due to the limited scope of OG - it was conceived to investigate an abduction. Therefore, there is only kidnapping for ransom, stolen to order or paedophillia as motives. No ransom demands and no signs of MM living with a family in Devon so there investigation was heavily skewed towards the third option from the outset.

It’s an awful thought that pushes the story into dark secretive places that kids disappear to.

If CB is becomes just another possible suspect, I’m hopeful the public Interest will continue to push for closure.

The British/German couple's neighbour also spoke to police about what she heard the night Maddie went missing, it has been claimed.

She reportedly heard the pair rowing the day after the three-year-old disappeared.

She told detectives she heard the man yelling: “Why did you bring her?” over and over again.

Portuguese police are reportedly said to have got the knock-back from the Germans after urging them to look more closely into the possibility the woman had driven home “drunk” with Maddie after hitting her and enlisted her husband’s help in disposing of her body at sea.

The question remains - who sent OG down that rabbit hole ?
Who persuaded the Home Office that that was the way to go ?
