Madeleine McCann: German Prisoner Identified as Suspect, #41

The thing is that in the timespan of five years this particular case haven't got any closer to getting to the court of law.
The decks had to be cleared regarding the five cases for which there already was evidence. Must be quite strenuous to get things organised for five cases.

Not to be forgotten is the time delaying legal argument concerning jurisdiction.
Nothing could be done until that was settled and it took appx two years to do that.

There was also the small matter of the fact that the BKA in co-operation with Portuguese and English investigators were - and probably still are - collecting, evaluating and collating evidence in MM's case.

They obviously had no intention of releasing any information about CB in 2019 until someone did it for them.
So if there is blame to be allotted to anyone for five years publicity for CB, look no further than that individual.
Left to their own devices had that leak not occurred investigators would still be investigating and we still would not have heard about CB until it suited police to tell us.
My opinion

We never positively ID'd the device that was on the seat of the VW in Malaga - March '07.
GPS device/ Mp3 player/ TomTom were all discussed at the time.

I am certain it’s a handheld gps device. It’s close to a Garmin GPSMAP60 CXS. However, I can find an exact model match.

It looks like there are audio-out jacks on the rh side. On top is either the power Jack to the car cigarette lighter or an antenna - I can’t find anything with an antenna on the rh side.

At the time, most of these things had a green screen, whereas this one looks like it’s colour. Therefore, for the time, it’s likely a high-end model.

It may be that it’s a model for specialist pursuit - they were made for golf, fishing, aviation etc. but I don’t know whether these things showed roads - clearly the screen in the picture is showing a road.

And how do you know that? I dont think any of us is privy to the evidence they have
but say you are right, So what does that prove? Imo nothing. They definitely have evidence but because of double jeopardy they cannot bring a case to court if they are not certain he will be jailed. They should have been allowed to take as much time as needed. This is about a murder tjay happened almost 20 years ago, of course it is extremely difficult. But CB remains their one and only suspect for the murder of MM, alas

Do these GPS things collect data even when not used? Something like today's mobiles?

With all the alleged thievery CB was involved in is it not likely he came by it in illicit means and if local its possible any data on it was collected by a previous owner, so once again a conundrum for prosecutors to prove all data was CBs movements.
Why would BKA be interested in previous data on a device before March 2007? If it contains the Malaga data and according to later movements, with other supporting evidence, one could infer he kept the device.

I don’t think so. But, if I recall correctly, people ran them off the cigarette lighter and kept them on much of the time.

It’s important to note that this device is not specifically designed for use in a car, it’s more general purpose i.e. hiking, hunting etc. I think CB grew up near the Black Forest, hunting might explain the guns, cruelty etc. Just a thought.

So this would take on data all the time it was on the lighter?

I think his childhood experiences better explain his cruelty to animals tbh - not to mention pregnancy related changes to the embryo of a mother who was most possibly a drug addict from what I have inferred jmo. His psychosynthesis could be explained from the moment he was conceived to the terrible treatment he had to endure with his Foster parents. Jmo

Whatever happened to MM occurred more than a lifetime ago in 2007.
It is not unreasonable that it takes time to gather evidence for the trial of a classic 'stranger danger' offence. Particularly when there is delay in ensuring everyone's rights are respected such as jurisdiction.
