With respect - very unlikely his phone grew legs & walked to the Ocean club to receive a call.

Point being - the person who owns the phone is incredibly likely to be the person talking on their phone for 30 minutes.
I think HCW admits in the bit that Richards quotes, that he (HCW) is not too sure of the precise location

It would be nice to know how they have pinned ownership to CB though that will come out at trial if that evidence is presented.

When asked if they can place CB at the OC (60 minutes Australia - ‘Maddie & the monster’) HCW replied “yes we think so”

Exactly, 'We think so' Not a confident Yes, absolutely

Particularly if it can be proved that it was in the hands of the owner before and after the phone call.

Also it can be indicative if a phone is switched off. An example of which is the SP murder in Edinburgh which was another murder without a body being found.
Something very sadistic about a murderer refusing to give up the location adding to the grief of relations.

Snip
Gilroy's mobile phone was later seized by police, along with his car.

Experts found that the phone had been switched off between Stirling and Inveraray and the same on the way back.

Police suspected Gilroy had deliberately switched his phone off to conceal his movements while he did a "reccy" for a site to dispose of Suzanne's body. He repeated this on his way back when he actually buried the body.
So no DNA - extensive searching but no body but cumulative evidence secured a conviction.

Despite the murderer being tracked from start to finish on what was practically a road map to where his victim lay it was only the cumulative evidence which caught him out.
The BKA have performed a superhuman task right from scratch and without the technology available to the Scottish police who also had to pull out the stops in solving what was a recent offence.

The offence against MM took place a long, long time ago. It would be good for the forces of law and order to be given credit for how they have progressed it as far as they have.
My opinion

I’m just going by what he said.
They think they can place CB at the OC.

That's fine.
I see uncertainty

If you go by what he said then there's no isuue, HCW clearly says they do not know if CB was using the number ending in 680, this is why he's say "thinks" so.

HCW was asked if they could place Cb at the OC & he said “yes we think so”.

By all means make the efforts to try to minimise the significance, but the more I read the more it looks like reaching.

It’s okay to accept he was in the area, sometimes the CB defending counter narratives are too illogical 😉

Another great article by JC today.
VERY interesting that the guns were immediately seized by the PJ & stayed in Portugal to be tested.

Thanks - just scanned it. It is reported that bones & clothes sent to Germany, guns to be tested in Portugal. If true one wonders why the guns are staying in Portugal & why the Portuguese have moved so purposely with this. Perhaps the prosecutors have set up a very specific chain of custody.

JC was the first reporter to report they found guns, so he must be getting credible information from somewhere

Perhaps the guns may not be related to MM but another crime related to CB? Is this a case of the PJ & BKA 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours', as in a mutually beneficial act.

Oh the photo with the tiny hand prints, within article, makes my blood run cold. I feel it’s rather impossible to make this make sense as linked to MM all these years later but, the image chills me.

Interesting use of words-
‘Although a series of bone fragments and animal bones were sent to Germany for scientists to test, the guns inexplicably stayed in Portugal’

Bone fragments *and* animal bones. Implying bone fragments not from an animal-

Or possibly fragments too small to determine whether animal or human without further testing

The problem with this article is that it contains nothing new - we already knew everything it contained.

Or more likely that because they were fragments, they couldn’t be identified as bones from anything.

There are many people on here with a deep knowledge of this case. I have one question which I will preface.

We know that there was a cell tower near the ocean club which a phone pinged off. Where was the next closest cell tower in each direction?

The answer to that question will either establish the location of the phone near ocean club or make it impossible to determine.

Info in posts below.

A cell tower usually has multiple antennas, each covering a specific part of the area. Azimuth indicates the compass direction (in degrees) that each antenna is pointing, and determines a phones approximate location within a cell's coverage area.
