Christian B. has been in focus for several years because German investigators suspected him of murder in the case of three-year-old Madeleine „Maddie“ McCann, who disappeared from a Portuguese holiday resort in 2007, and have also publicly stated this. Christian B. is currently serving a prison sentence for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Portugal, to which he was sentenced by the Braunschweig Regional Court in 2019. In October 2024, after a trial, he was acquitted of three counts of rape and two counts of child sexual abuse.

The former BKA employee played a supporting role in this trial because she contacted the defense attorney Friedrich Fülscher. However, no statement was made in the criminal proceedings.

With a view to the impending release from prison, there has recently been speculation that the suspect could flee abroad. Then he might no longer be available to German investigators if he were charged.

Indeed, I would agree and judging from Spiegel's article, it appears she said she dropped the wiretapping accusation because she suffered from a delusional disorder at the time?? Or something along those lines, if I am not mistaken?! So if this is true, we could agree that the current BKA investigation has not used any tricks or such, (which would also not been acceptable in court). They are trying to do everything by the book jmo

Play with fire and you get burned. In this case she’s gotten involved & lost her money. This won’t be refunded or reversed imo. Unfortunately it has brought forward the ‘at risk’ date. Because the sooner he’s out the sooner he becomes a danger to women & children.

Sadly there is some CB funding & plenty of giggles in the gossip clubs. So either way, the money will reach him.

Wiretapping - if indeed that’s what it was, is something the defence attacked in the previous trial. I don’t think they’d be after it unless it involved CB blabbing something incriminating.

If so, I wouldn’t be surprised if the defence put a lot of weight behind having this inadmissible, but either way if it’s incriminating I’m sure the public will find out.

Yes, the dna I'm talking about is that collected from 5A - blood on the floor tiles, skirting boards, walls etc. I'd have thought it would be worth fresh, sophisticated testing with a view to seeing if anything CB turns up.

If I understand the system correctly, it involves a new analysis of the results and does not require re-testing of the original samples, though sample re-anaysis using current techniques might also unlock hitherto unknown information.

Well HCW consistently says no forensics, why not request a new analysis.

I guess it's possible that new analysis may have been done using the new technology but that it may not have provided the BKA with anything useful as regards CB.

But I'd genuinely be surprised if an open offer to re-analyse the MM dna data files had been turned down by the BKA. I can't think of any reason why they would refuse it since they've always been so open to external assistance, knowing that it was always a long shot and even if it didn't throw up anything useful.

It appears there was no such thing. The woman from the BKA supposedly said that she was having a delusional disorder when she made that claim.

Having read up on it, the samples don't need to exist. The analysis is carried out on the raw data from the original tests.

I'm not certain what they are, but all the DNA analysis was done by UK forensic under Dr Lowe.
Reports were sent to Portugal and appear in the PJ files.
I expect OG got a copy when they set up as it would rather remiss if they didn't.
Whether the BKA got a copy is anyone's guess.

But if the testing was incomplete and the BKA have no forensics link, why not have the results analysed by Perlin.

Not sure it was incomplete. Lowe interpreted results to the best of his ability at the time, but apparently science has moved on since then.

Technology has moved on, the Germans need help you would think that OG at least would be willing to try something else.
