There are so many pages and pages to go through, so would someone kindly fill me in on the "Maldives theory"? I just need a brief description! Thank you in advance!

Locals on the islands of Maldives reported seeing a plane that fit the description of MH370 flying really low overhead. IIRC, some sort of debris also washed up on the shore. It was later determined it was not from the plane. IMO, it was from the plane.
It was some hours after the plane was reported missing.
Because of how much fuel had in it, it was possible that MH370 could have flown that far.

Are you looking at the same piece of luggage as me? I don't see shiny zips or "fine" contents here:

Oh, and it's ABSURD. You might want to check that spelling/typing degree is legit ;)

The speling typing is a joke cause i cant type or spell!

! No mold on clothes that have been in the ocean for a year and a half that some luggage!

How could there be no mold after being wet for 16 months?

re The white zippers are going to narrow it down

how can white zippers remain white after 16 months?

CNN)A preliminary assessment by U.S. intelligence agencies, produced in the wake of the MH370 disaster, suggested it was likely someone in the cockpit deliberately caused the aircraft's movements before the Malaysian airliner disappeared.

That is another thing that is so bizaire. For 3 months CNN did this nonstop with no conclusions on any scenario. A piece of wreckage is discovered 24 hours ago and now everyone is saying for sure the plane was bought down by crew. what happened in the last 24 hours that now makes experts so sure ? Dont get it !

It is sort of unique-looking luggage, but it may just be included in the probe because of it being found at the same time as the flaperon (sp)? (yup, Cariis, lots of new words to struggle with!!!) JMO add That PPRuNe pilots forum is interesting to read. JMO

Pls add no new words, as you know I do not do all that well with the "standards"

I'm an expert at MS Paint so I made this beautiful illustration to show that the item found is part of a suitcase.

There would be no mold if water was continuously moving through the objects since the bold spores would not be able to attach to the surface. If the water is salty, it is possible that mold would not grow in that environment.

This is awesome! I was thinking it may have been red with gray, but this makes sense too.

I think it was probably red or chocolate brown. I just used the purple suitcase as an example because of the pockets.

ANy know offhand:

How far away the flap was from the bag
Found by same person?
When was one found then the other (timeline)

The man that found the pieces said he saw the suitcase the day before the flaperon was found. He said they ignored the suitcase until they found the flaperon and connected the dots.

He also mentioned that there was a pad lock on the suitcase to keep it from being unzipped. A lot of people put those locks on when they check their bags at the airport.

Just food for thought
Air France will offer 11 flights to Reunion island using 777. It would be interesting to know if a flaperion was ever changed on the small island - and what they did wiht it?

"I knew immediately it was part of an aircraft, but I didn't realize how important it was, that it could help to solve the mystery of what happened to the Malaysian jet," he told the Associated Press.
"I was walking on the beach, looking for stones that are used to grind spices, and there it was. It was very big, you couldn't miss it.
"At first we didn't know what it was. But now I understand. I am proud that Reunion is known for this big event."

Johnny Begue, a member of a local shore cleaning association in Saint-Andre, La Reunion

A French law enforcement helicopter is scouring the waters around Reunio

some may recall another flight that ended tragically in the same waters.
On the evening of Nov. 27, 1987, the crew of South African Airways Flight 295 radioed air traffic control to alert them about smoke on the flight deck.

the aircraft plummeted into the dark waters of the Indian Ocean with 159 souls on board.
Nearly three decades after its demise, the challenges of the recovery and investigation

So it's no surprise a large portion of the aircraft's wreckage, including the flight data recorder, was never recovered. It took two years to find the cockpit voice recorder, 16,100 feet down.

Can anyone link any reason why "Intel" today is now saying that it was a deliberate act for sure? what changed in the last 24 hours for them to declare that today??

Would they get mold while underwater? I would think that would only happen when exposed to air.

Maybe they were painted and the zipper material was white underneath, and the paint came off?

INVESTIGATORS examining a piece of debris suspected to belong to missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 have been forced to temporaily flee the site where the part washed up. An emergency evacuation is under way on the south-eastern side of La Reunion island, where the World Heritage-listed volcano, Le Piton de la Fournaise has recorded unusual seismic activity.

speculation on my part only my first thought was that was why they chose to plant it in the area! Perfect - along with this total declaration that it was deliberatly flown in a nerafarios scecario suddenly becomes fact today ---an yes geologists have preindicators a mountain is about to blow his/her top

Come on !!!!
