Weekly update - Oct 26, 2016

Dong Hai Jiu 101 finally departed Fremantle last Thursday and began their searching operation with the ROV last Monday.
The Fugro Equator left Henderson on Monday to test and calibrate the performance of AUV.

Weather will be changing to poor later this week which may affect the use of the ROV.
Since the ships are searching in two different areas, I don't know if the weather forecast covers both locations or not.

Bad weather conditions are hampering progress in the underwater search effort for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Investigators were due to comb a 46,000sq-mile area of the southern Indian Ocean by December, but the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), which is leading the search, says it will now take until "around January/February 2017".

There’s something we haven’t been told about MH370

A new report into missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has revealed the doomed airliner came from a batch of aircraft beset by potentially disastrous windshield flaws.

The report – written by aviation researcher Mick Gilbert – centres around the discovery that “windshield heater fires” were extremely common in Boeing 777s built in 2002.

The Boeing 777 that operated flight MH370 was also manufactured in 2002.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau's latest examination of outboard wing flap debris has concluded it was 'most likely' not in an extended position when the plane went down.

Weekly update - Nov 2 2016

The Fugro Equator finished testing and has now arrived in the search area.
The Dong Hai Jiu 101 is continuing to use the ROV in its search operations.

The weather is expected to turn poor later this week which could affect the ROV which must be launched and recovered during its operation.

Included in this update is a link to an update on the search and debris examination including analysis of the drift modeling.

A First Principles review board has been set up and convened for a three day meeting to study all data, reports, etc. A report detailing findings will be published later. This board may continue to assist in the search.

Check out MH653 PEN/KUL. Remember seeing this A/C pieced together in a hangar in KUL, early 80's. MH370/MH017 ...my thoughts only ......hard to believe the swiss cheese model has lined up yet again. Something stinks.

Revisited after 36 years: Malaysia Airlines MH653
UPDATE 4 Dec 2014- Over the months that follow after writing this post in Dec 2013; i managed to comb through some resources coming from Berita MAS, as well as the Aircraft Accident Report 1/78 9M-MBD which was published in 1978 by the Civil Aviation Department of Malaysia. As a result, some omissions have been corrected.

Also, my deepest condolences to the families of MH17 tragedy, and let's hope the MH370 eventually be found. 2014 is indeed a trying times for Malaysia and our beloved national carrier, Malaysia Airlines.

This year marks the 36th year anniversary of the ill-fated Malaysian Airline System' Flight 653, which plunged into a swamp in Kampong Ladang, Tanjong Kupang, Johor.

To this day, it remains the deadliest air disaster Malaysia has ever seen in its 102 years of aviation history.

Both ships are searching in their areas.
The report included two images taken by the ROV which show some geological areas that they apparently searched again.

Weather forecast to be unsuitable periodically which may impact the search progress somewhat in both areas.

Both ships have been searching in their areas.

The ROV identified one geology contact previously found by the AUV as being the debris field from a shipwreck (#2).

Report also has images from the AUV and ROV which show the difference in sonar and visual imagery.

Weather will be okay for the AUV which is on the Fugro Equator during the week and marginally suitable for the ROV which is on the Dong Hai Jiu 101.

American statistician Mike Chillit looked at waters around Saint Brandon Island, about 430 kilometres northeast of Mauritius, six months after the plane disappeared in March 2014.
