This link has a longer version and it shows the plane turning red two other times. Not sure what it means - I haven't seen it on other flight trackers. I wish we knew which site they were getting that from:

Weird. I wonder if they know who took that video. My DH travels quite a bit, and I use Flight Tracker to see where he is, and if his flight will be on time. I've never recorded it. Why would someone record it? :waitasec: I wish we knew what the voices are saying.

"On rumours that one of the passengers' phone rang when a relative dialled the number, Mr Ong said this information has been passed on to the Malaysian and Chinese authorities. But he added that he has personally called the number and there was no ringing tone.

MAS also told family members that they had tried calling the mobile phones of the flight crew but there was no answer although there was a ringing tone.

Meanwhile, about 100 family members have signed a petition claiming that MAS is "hiding the truth" over the missing plane."

This is so odd! http://www.straitstimes.com/the-big...airlines-plane-mas-tells-relatives-mh370-pass

I am starting to lean towards a terrorist attack. if it was, I don't think it was a bomb. More likely, the cockpit was broken into, and the terrorist(s) took control of the plane and crashed in into the sea.

That image that was posted of possible debris, looked like it was a life jacket. Same shape...same color...

Ditto. Its bugging me why someone would have recorded that live. The voices say something right before it disappeared? What did they say I wonder? :waitasec:

I thought all the debris sightings had been checked out and they were not related to the plane. Have there been more sightings since?

I just realized something re-watching the longer version of the tracker video that has the plane turning red:

- it is red when the video first starts
- it turns red after the screen is resized by the person recording it and the plane is clicked on (as if to highlight it)
- it turns red just before ending

When I watch planes on Flight24, a plane turns red if you hover the pointer above that plane. I think that is what is happening and the red doesn't mean anything else. JMO

Based on 9/11 why just crash the plane in the ocean? There's tons of populous places the crash and do more damage

I'm not sure it's so odd that someone recorded the flight tracking, could be plane enthusiasts or someone looking forward to seeing their friend on the flight.
Would the red not just mean loss of signal transmission?

Ah yes that's what I found online when googling flight tracker red plane - it said it's red when selected or something similar

Might have been intended to crash into a city but their attempts were foiled by crew or passengers, never know.
I think if it is terrorism the thing fell through

I have done that... :blushing:... when DH and the kids were flying, and also when a good friend was on her way to visit me. However, I did it because each of the times I recorded, the planes were going through bad weather and you see a line of thunderstorms that the plane was trying to avoid or had to fly through.

It could also be a momentous flight - first flight, a homecoming, etc - and someone wanted to show it.

But - are we sure it was recorded live and not just someone recording the playback like we're able to do on Flight24?

I agree with Waddles that it could have been thwarted.

Or, it could be someone wanting to take a passenger (or a few) out for important reasons - as in a professional hit. Of course, there are much easier ways to do that than take down a whole plane.

Reading a bit at FlightRadar24 forum:

It says RED means "squawking emergency"....so possibly they do know more than they are saying?

I agree, Ho Chi City would have been a better target with it's large population. The way the plan seems to be turning, I think the crew was suspicious of something and tried to turn around back to the airport but I don't know why they didn't call it in on the radio.

Could have been trying to hijack the plane too and it went bad.

I think the video was made after the flight was lost to show where exactly it disappeared for the media, not that someone was recording it at the time.
