But the Flight Data Recorder records far longer.

I think that is correct that it only records the last 2 hours. But that will still tell us something. If there are no human voices on the tape for the last two hours, we'll know something happened to all aboard. If there are voices, we will know how/why the end finally came.

I kind of liked the other guy's accent and he and Richard Quest were already in a groove,, then SUDDENLY.......the switched to Don Lemon, I don't knwo why?

I agree with this ... the CNN-international coverage was pretty solid, and then they cut to CNN-America anchored by Lemon ... I'm not a big fan of his style ... but they have recently replaced him with Anderson Cooper ... so we have basically gone through 3 anchors in 15 minutes lol

WOW! I saw the news and came straight here. Fingers crossed this is the beginning of the end of this mystery. As much as I dislike Tony Abbott, I feel that for him to come out and say this in parliament they have to have some kind of credible evidence. I have a feeling these satellites are very very very high quality, and they can see exactly what they've found.

I'm going to take a break from searching through all these tomnod maps for a bit, at least until the presser.

Does anyone know how long it will be before the Australian planes reach the suspected debris.

Ok...this is a big guess and also we don't know when the planes left, I bet they are well and truly on their way....I live about 2000 kms away from Sydney and that takes about 2 and 1/2 hours....

this is about 2300 kms away according to map above.....that is also flying on a domestic direct flight......don't know how fast these jets would be going.

Right on school pick up time :banghead:

Kids are just going to have to wait, MLO. It's about time they learned to be more independent anyway, learn to drive, get a part-time job.;)

Please all tell me if this is even possible....I have no idea about oceans or currents....but is it possible the plane actually went down right where the transponder lost contact, and the pieces floated all the way down near Perth in the last 12 days?

What makes sense to me is if the plane did go down, currents can take it anywhere but, but but some things would float up and not all things would end up at Perth (that does not make sense to me). There would be a distribution of things in more than one location.

I think the talking heads / mind are trying to find ways to quite us all down especially families who want answers.
