I wonder why they would bring it back in while they still have hours of day light left? You'd think they would keep planes out as long as they can.

I would say thats why the 4 planes are leaving at different times, all worked out on fuel - one about runs out and another arrives.

It takes 4 hours to get there. They can only search for 2 hours before they have to head home to refuel.

Sunset in that area will be at midnight AEDT.

I actually know someone who works on Pearce. I wonder if there is any info floating about...

I'm pretty sure it's not due back until 8pm AEDT. If it arrived just before 2pm, it could search for 2 hours before having to turn back for the 4 hour flight home. That would have it getting back at 8pm.

I thought I heard 8:00 pm AEST during the press conference, but ACA crossed to their reporter at the base at 6:50 pm AEST & said the plain is due back in 10 mins &:00 pm AEST. Then 30 mins later during an update they said they were still waiting for the plane to arrive back
