"The objects, described as a "grey or green circular object" and an "orange rectangular object", were spotted about 2,500 km west of Perth on Monday afternoon, said Abbott, adding that three planes were also en route to the area.

Neither Malaysia nor Australia gave details on the objects' size.

"We're not sure if Success will be able to find them tonight," John Young, general manager of the emergency response division of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, said in a video statement. "She may need the assistance of another serch aircraft on the scene tomorrow to do that."

Finally. They could have made this announcement much earlier IMO. Very sad. Poor families.

Well we do not know whether they have or not.

Because they just said "plane took Southern Corridor" but gave NO EXPLANATION as to how exactly they came to that determination.

What if they only came to that conclusion b/c they don't think the plane would have gotten past the radar of countries in Norhtern corridor? Well, what if that plane did? What if the people flying the plane figured out how to do it?? How do they know??

JMO.

I don't want to be seeming like, stubborn and not wanting to "face facts."

But if I am thinking these things, don't you think the family members will be thinking this?

I don't think they will actually believe this until they see some actual proof.

JMO.

The british equivalent of the NTSB is excellent and would not say the data showed them in the middle of the southern indian ocean unless it did. Britain is not doing some sort of guess work here, they have the data

Yeah, I am having mixed emotions with how he handled this. There is nothing definite being reported from the searchers actually picking up debris out of the ocean and saying it is definitely from plane.

Until I hear that , I dont see how he can say what he said. This seems to be very premature IMO. It doesnt give them closure in their minds I dont think. All it would do is make them upset for now and still wonder where exactly the plane is.

Someone needs to positively ID the debris and claim it is from plane. That is only way. I am more and more sick of how Malaysia is handling things.
IMO

Agreed.

As others have said, maybe they have actually verified some debris and verified that it's from the plane, and they have told the families this, but haven't told the media yet.

So it's like we're in the dark.

But IDK. I would think some reporters would have reported if they had fished things out of the ocean, or if they had definitively seen things from the plane in the ocean, like seats or something of the sort.

But if they HAVE NOT verified that the debris is actually that of the plane, IDK but in that case it is not enough proof for me just because Malaysian PM gets up and says some words. How do I know if it's true or not?

JMO.

In any case, it's almost certain the passengers and crew are no longer alive, and my heart and deepest sympathy goes out to the families.

I think once they got the information about the plane descending to 12,000 feet, they knew the plane could no survive. Right??? I think I heard that last night.

Morning.

O/T-
If anyone is interested, closing arguements are being streamed in the Teghan Skiba trial.

I know she is one life vs. 239 but I wish she could get 1/100 of the attention :(

I mean....really? We don't know any more than we did. I'm personally not buying this. But, I'm sure they want to put an end to this. IMO

I don't think it's a coincidence that they're on their way to the objects that were sighted by the Australian plane right now - they know what it is and they had to announce this data first

Are you suggesting that Britain's AAIB and Immersat are in on some sort of coverup? That they briefed the Malaysian PM falsely?

Finally. They could have made this announcement much earlier IMO. Very sad. Poor families.

Inmarsat did further analysis with the data they had after the initial "arc" revelation. This conclusion was not derived 'much earlier.'

They didn't have the new information that confirmed it until this evening

Monday, March 24, 10:00 PM MYT +0800 Malaysia Airlines MH370 Flight Incident - Press Briefing by Prime Minister of Malaysia

Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume that MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia’s Prime Minister, new analysis of satellite data suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean.

Absolutely. They would keep their mouths shut if they weren't certain of their calculations and data.

They have no horse in this race.

Well hopefully this "data" will someday be released so that the family members can see it for themselves.

If I was a family member, I'm sorry, I would not believe what somebody is telling me, without actually seeing the data and understanding it for myself. Seeing exactly what data did they have and how did they come to the conclusion that they did?

For weeks, they have been told they don't have the data to determine whether it went on Norhtern corridor or Souther corridor.

Now suddenly it seems they have somehow retrieved "further data" or somehow seen things in the other data which suddenly points them towards the South.

JMO.
