Fingers and toes crossed this is something! I'm kinda expecting them to say it was a dolphin or something though.

“We certainly are in the best known location at this stage and doing the best we can to locate either pinger,” said Commander Lybrand, who said there would be no mistaking the sound of the black boxes.

“It will be very obvious if there’s a pinger,” he said. “It doesn’t look like biologics. It’s got a very specific one second (ping) sequence.”

My basic feeling at this point is that if this report is ACCURATE (big if there given the source), this could be the break we have been desperately waiting for. If it does pan out at such, the timing (batteries nearly dead) and chance (insanely large search area) of this happening are simply staggering.

(CNN) -- A Chinese patrol ship looking for signs of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in the southern Indian Ocean discovered Saturday a pulse signal with a frequency of 37.5 kHz, state news agency Xinhua reported.

"That is the standard beacon frequency" for both so-called black boxes -- the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder, said Anish Patel, president of pinger manufacturer Dukane Seacom.

"They're identical."

SkyNews currently reporting that the "latitude and longitude" accompanied with this report (which they are crediting to an AP report that I am unable to find as of yet) does "not match" the current search areas. I am actively searching for online sources backing up these reports...

A Chinese ship searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane in the southern Indian Ocean has picked up a pulse signal, Chinese media say.

They say the signal has a frequency of 37.5kHz per second - the same as those emitted by the flight recorders.

However there is no evidence so far that it is linked to MH370.

Xinhua said the detector deployed by the Haixun 01 patrol ship picked up the signal at around 25 degrees south latitude and 101 degrees east longitude.

"It is yet to be established whether it is related to the missing jet," it said.

The president of pinger manufacturer Dukane Seacom has confirmed that this is the “standard beacon frequency” of both black boxes on MH370 — the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder.

However, experts have cautioned that the same signal could come from “a variety of things”.

“It could be a false signal,” oceanographer Simon Boxall told CNN. “We’ve had a lot of red herrings, hyperbole on this whole search.”

It would be helpful if they gave examples of what else emits signals of this frequency.

Not going to get my hopes up, but ....... :please:

...if this is it...
Then the saying, "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous" ....seems very apt!

The synchronicity of finding the box at this point of time, in this vast a place.... It would be a miracle and an answer to so many prayers....
Maybe a higher power is helping in the search:please:

So hoping its true!
