I have not understood , since the report has been released the medias focus on the 4 hours o ineptitude. Is that important, well certainly in terms of aviation circles. But, in this instance, it seems to be playing out that outcome could have altered.

How?

No matter what anyone’s convictions are regarding what really happened (mechanical/evil) the authorities ineptitude did not impact the finale as it relates to fatalities.

By that I mean, if the plane was in mechanical distress, if they had scrambled and had a jet fighter behind Mal 370 the fighters could do nothing to “help”.

If evil, the notion that a fighter pulling up alongside would result in the folks saying ok we give up we will land highly unlikely.

If evil, the likelihood that any nation would shoot down a civilian airliners with 239 civilians on it - could happen I suppose, but all would be dead in that context as well.

The “big deal” about the four hour delay only has relevance of any sort if there had been a crash , with=err in water or land, and there errors resulted in additional loss of life as a result of what would have been a delayed search (Ferry) operation.

Why is the four hours, in the context solely of MAL 370 getting so much airtime.

It's going to be 2 months soon, and the families are no closer to finding out what happened to their loved ones...

For weeks he has been carrying on about how a "report", with details "must be released. Today, after 9 paragraphs, a seating chart that in reality is nothing more than seat numbers added to the same list on the 9th!

Seating charts in aircraft investigation are really important WHEN YOU HAVE A PLANE- they can tell you structural issues, where people are found in the aircraft if they were fleeing, fire or smoke, or stuck cause they could not geet there seatbelts undone.

They can determine how the crew preppred the passengers based on where and what the passengers were doing, what doors were opened, what slides worked,did they die from blunt , thermal injuries,or smoke inhalation.

Putting seat 4d on a passenger manifest on a missing plane adsds nothing to nothing which results in nothing!

But for some reason QWest seems to be quite satisifed......just bizairre. I am tired - and if I make it to the midnight deal tongiht fine , but if I crash I am , after a sixth of a year of this (!) confident nothing Lemmon is teasing about will have any signifgance.

My bet , they will carry on a bit more about ending up the hotel stay, in a softer manner after seeing medias reaction to it today.

Frustrating day..... but I tell myself, my fault, why on earth would I expect any real information that is new, not obvious, or just plain silly

Malaysia releases report on MH370 investigation, while airline tells families to head home

Malaysian authorities on Thursday released a report on the investigation into the disappearance of Flight 370, which revealed that air traffic controllers did not realize that the plane was missing until 17 minutes after it vanished from radar.

The release of the report came as Malaysia Airlines told relatives of passengers who were aboard MH370 to move back home and wait for news on the search for the missing plane.

If a fighter had scrambled the military pilot could have made a visual contact with the cockpit to see whether the pilots were overtaken by third parties or in distress or even conscious.......could have really changed the outcome....

There is going to be a tri-lateral meeting on Monday – Malaysia, Australia, China – to discuss the way forward, deployment of assets, etc.

Angus Houston – Still hopeful that Bluefin will find the black boxes, but the probability of finding anything is lower than it was when we first started.

Expanded search is a very large area, and is very very deep.

Houston was joined in the press conference by Jean-Paul Troadec — President of the French Aviation Accident Investigation Bureau (and previous head of the Air France 447 investigation team) — who orchestrated the successful search for the black boxes of a crashed Air France passenger jet — and Malaysian Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Air Chief Marshal reiterated the new focused underwater search will take about eight to 12 months.

“We are totally committed, as three nations I believe, to find MH370,” he said, expressing confidence they can find the aircraft.

The search coordinator stressed he’s confident they’re searching in the right area — the southern Indian Ocean — adding the Bangladeshi navy hasn’t found anything in the Bay of Bengal.

The reassurance follows a number of claims in the last week from amateur searchers that wreckage had been “spotted” in the bay and in the Gulf of Thailand

Houston added that the search would continue because authorities owed it to the families of the victims and the world to learn what happened to the ill-fated flight

Also, Chinese msm publish some info about Malaysia Releasing Preliminary MH370 Report. The released report contained confirmation that Military Radar monitored a plane traveling to the West across the Malaysian Peninsula
on 8th of March 2014.

I totally think this tri-lateral meeting will be about how to get the biggest bang for your buck (efficiency). They will be in Canberra – as our capital it is where all the powers-that-be and quick-answers reside … Finance Minister, Australian Transport Safety Bureau, Prime Minister, Chief of Defence.

Angus Houston said in the presser that they were together now (at presser time) to prepare for the tri-lateral meeting.

I’m guessing Jean-Paul will be telling them the most effective and least effective search methods they implemented when looking for the Air France plane, and how much each of those methods cost.

I would think Australia, China, and Malaysia have all been given a budget. And after they meet they would hope to come out of the meeting with an agreed plan based on best methods/approach and who is going to pay for what.
