Not sure what area was first searched (the news has been all over the place), though I don't think they've concentrated their search this far out with all the talk of "turning" the airplane around. But this site would also coincide with the general direction of the loud noise heard by 8 villagers living in Marang (just south of Terengganu). They said they heard a loud noise coming from the northeast.

Are the villagers south of the suspected image? Because I thought I read the satellite image is southeast of the 1:20 a.m. mark.

Man, I'm confused.

Now CNN has an expert on that is saying that the size of the Debris would be hard to see it as debris from a plane crash

So if the oil platform worker's observation is correct and he did see the plane, what happened? He said it was on fire but he believed it was intact (although I dont know how he could tell other than he saw only one fireball instead of several). If the plane was on fire at altitude, must have been either a bomb or some sort of accidental catastrophic explosion (ie TWA 800).

Chinese government website says it has images of suspected plane debris

China's official Xinhua News Agency reported late Wednesday a government website has satellite images of suspected debris from the missing Malaysia Airlines plane that vanished last week with 239 aboard.

According to the report, the satellite images from the morning of March 9 appear to show "three suspected floating objects" of varying sizes in the sea off the southern tip of Vietnam and east of Malaysia – a part of the original search area for the aircraft, which was enroute from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Possible that the plane was in one piece when it hit the water. Thats why there was no large debris field, just a few pieces. The rest would have sunk.

The only way the plane could have hit the water in one piece is if it was falling/flying at a relatively low altitude. I don't know how low the plane was flying when it was reported 'that a low flying aircraft was seen.' Could it have been low enough to land in the water in one piece before breaking apart?

So if the oil platform worker's observation is correct and he did see the plane, what happened? He said it was on fire but he believed it was intact (although I dont know how he could tell other than he saw only one fireball instead of several). I seem to recall his saying the plane was at low altitude and in one piece though burning. If this turns out to be the plane's wreckage and something the oil rigger witnessed, his detailed testimony will be pretty helpful as far as determining what happened. At least as opposed to if there had been no witnesses at all.

Absolutely. His observations would be critical. Just the fact that the plane was on fire already is important information.

in the case of the airplane that the pilot crashed on purpose and they deemed it 'pilot suicide'. does anyone know how they determined it was a suidice? ty

Why wouldn't ships and other equipment be there by now though?
I read China has five ships deployed to help search. The whole area, as far as we know, has already been searched (during the first 90 hours). Am I mistaken about the location? Can't figure out why they'd delay searching this long if the image was spotted on Sunday.

I may be wrong on this, but my impression is that the image was taken by satellite on Sunday, but not necessarily discovered then. The article upthread seemed to imply going over all the satellite images was a time-consuming task using a lot of (or not enough) people.

This is from The Star, I know it is not MSM, but they are saying that there is a shoe bomber link to the missing Malaysian plane

If true, this is huge news and a step back in the search. Please provide a link for proof.

Am I being paranoid but would it be common for a pilot to have a full Flight Simulator for that particular aircraft? Per CNN LE performed search warrant on his home today. No MSM written confirmation. Just wondering. Pretty stupid about this stuff here. I'll just go ahead and be embarrassed.

Is it true that radar can track up to and within only 200 miles from a coastline?

When you look at the properly scaled map, when the plane was at the 1:20 a.m. mark in flight, it looks to be closer to the Malaysian border. Yet first reports say the plane was supposed to make contact with Vietnam at that point. It looks as if Vietnam is still too far away for that to have been true if the statement about detection within 200 miles is correct.

What's up with this? (yesterday CNN was showing a map with the 1:20 a.m. mark almost touching Vietnam, today the mark is nearer to Malaysia.)

I am not sure of the mileage off of coastline- but they had just said good night to their air traffic controller- as they were about to be handed off to Vietnam ATC. They were not quite in Vietnam's airspace. Under 30,000 feet, they are "off the radar".

Something about the left elevator was pointed down and the right elevator was pointed up like someone was trying to pull it back up and the other pilot recorded as saying something like "what are you doing? Help me".

did they say Why it wouldn't be?

I have read that the wing span of a Boeing 777-200ER is 60.9 meters(199ft11in) (60.9 m) and it's overall length is 63.7 meteres (209ft1 in) and its Tail height is 18.5 meters(60 ft 9 in)

We are trying to confirm whether #MH370 search units are being sent to the area where #China satellite images show floating objects
