A lot to think about....I'm thinking a message is being sent to the hijacker - like, "don't worry, we have no idea where you are" when actually they know exactly where the plane is and are trying to figure out the best was to move in without putting the passengers at risk.

Lets hope.

The only problem is I believe the Hi-jackers only wanted to steal the plane. I dont think they have demands.

That timeline makes me nervous.
If they said it flew for 5 more hours I would think it may have landed.
But the fact that it flew about the same amount of time as it had fuel...
Does make me worry that it flew till it ran out. :please:

Hi Cheri,
They said they are still analyzing last pings...slow process.....I think they will be able to narrow it down more (he said they are not through!). These two areas are much more specific than the huge area they were dealing with before. Seven hours....I wonder if they did make it to land?.

I would be willing to bet they already analyzed the final pings and know exactly where the plane is and area getting everyone into position.

I'm hoping that they did, but am terrified for them if they are still alive.

I'm off to bed, errands in the morning, but will check in before I go to see if there is anything new from the next presser. Thank you, everyone, for all of the updates and info. Good nite.

Assuming the plane landed someplace and the passengers are still alive, I wonder if it's really a good idea to let the hijacker(s) know that their flight path has been traced. What if they panic?

Probably not. But what are they to do? Everyone is up in arms about not getting any information. Everyone is so sure their country would do a better job at finding the plane and giving out information. Every one is demanding to know who was on the plane, the ins and outs of the pilots lives, the areas searched. People seem to want to know as much information that investigators/military/ governments have.

They put out nothing and they are called corrupt, inept and third world. They release the info and other terrorists learn from their mistakes and the people who have the plane have time to do what ever they need to do.

Why would you go to all that trouble to hijack a plane and then just go until it ran out of gas and crash? No. They landed somewhere is my guess.

I don't recall the PM saying that the plane was in the air when they got the last communication, it could have been on the ground. There has to be more going on here than we're being told, no way are they going to show all their cards to the hijackers.

I have to roll and scroll. I can't give out any more information. Sorry.

We have provided links to verify what we are saying.
If you have inside information you can become a verified insider to share that.
If not, a link would be needed if you want to state something as fact. :seeya:

I'm sorry, I don't understand. How is what still going?

the plane. You said it could be they could be sending a message to the hijacker to throw them off and not put passengers at risk but I don't understand how that could be or how the plane could be going.

(I'm so lost on this crap I can't even tell you so I'm sorry I'm coming off as an idiot.)

I know this is a dumb question, but at high altitudes do commercial planes ever just coast? I have been on many flights and sometimes it suddenly gets very quiet, like the engines were cut off or turned way down.

I'm wondering if they flew until they were over land and reasonably near to wherever they wanted to land, then went lower in altitude so that they couldn't be detected by radar.

At first we thought they only had 4 hours of fuel in board, now we know it was 7. Perhaps there was even more? Somehow?

I too think that there is a reasonable chance they landed, but to answer your question: for terrorism reasons.

I've put on my thinking cap since making that post. I now believe everything the PM said was very deliberate and meant to lull the hijackers into a false sense of security. Or I'm just really tired and full of it

To see if it could be done and how far they could get?

Will the satellites give them information if the plane is on the ground?

I thought that's the whole reason the satellites helped... because it was in the air.
(There isn't a whole lot to track in the air that is unidentified, compared to the ground.)

Would they be able to see it land, drop out of the sky, or whatever on satellites?
Then would they be able to track where it ended up on land or in the water with satellites?

We need someone to confirm whether the satellites would help on the ground or not.... :dunno:
