I have just woken up and switched the news on to hear the Malay prime minister say that a satellite picked the plane up 7.5 hours after ATC lost contact and they are now searching near Kazakhstan

Am I dreaming?!?!?!??!

Not dreaming...

It's a peaceful gathering to express disappointment in the way the current government is running our country, as well as offering positive hope for change.

In case anyone here is thinking of attending their local March, please remember to be respectful to the environment: dispose of all rubbish (even if it's not yours) and be mindful that this is a family event. Please keep protest signs respectful. Hate is destructive. Swearing is not family friendly, not even when passions run high. Let's give this issue the respect it deserves and work together for a positive future :)

More info regarding the map handed out to the media in Kuala Lumpur

@JonahFisher - 1:09 AM - 15 Mar 2014 - My reading of map handed out and time in the air suggests plane MH370 could well have been over China at last ping.

@JonahFisher - 1:37 AM - 15 Mar 2014 - Being briefed by Malaysia officials they believe most likely location for MH370 is on land somewhere near Chinese/Kyrgyz border.

guess what is near the chinese/Kyrgyz border???? Uighur terrorists...

Here is a much clearer and complete snapshot of the map handed to the media, posted by @JonahFisher on Twitter ... No 'red' lines, but it can easily be figured out

No sign of press conference yet, but here you go for you night owls.
They are covering it and did replay the previous press conference.

http://news.sky.com/templates/watch-live

They said again that both pilots homes were searched.
They also said the plane went "Northwest" from it's last known location.
(When the transponder was turned off.)

What's unbelieveable to me about hijacking is that no passengers got out any cell phone calls.

I will say it again, the malaysian airline did NOT take the aeromobile service that would have given pax. cell communications

Looks to me like if the plane headed north it is somewhere around the China-Kyrgyzstan border, and if it headed south it is at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

Timing of the last ping is highly suggestive of the plane running until it ran out of fuel.

Yes. The more information that comes out, the more arrows seem to point to this possibility.

yes I am now tending to go towards this direction......the professor on the plane, plus they may have taken the plane up there to their own territory and either made demands or killed the passengers up there and are yet to claim responsibility....they have not claimed responsibility yet of the knife attack.....

also Waddles, I found "those" posts by that member very odd, and I actually am wondering whether she was telling the truth or not, as I have read on a number of occasions that this company was into some heavy duty tech stuff, and these were some of their best tech experts.....

One of the theories that came up on our special news edition the other day was to get at the cargo.....could they be carrying some of very special interest to certain terrorism groups, or even other countries military???

NOw I have got to say, that I have watched a lot of spy movies and read lots of spy books and absolutely loved "spooks" so I can not believe in this day and age that the cia/asio/mi5/6 and all those other spy networks all over the world are not waaaayyy more on to this, than we plebs know....I mean this is real life "Mission Impossible" "Bourne Supremacy" "Skyfall" stuff right there right now......

the post that the new poster put up before about not really seeing any ships out searching has me suss as well......

I'm not sure I'm buying this, a quick look at the map tells me it would have had to fly over several countries to get to Kazakhstan.

Plus that is much further away than we've ever been led to believe there was fuel for.

Still half asleep and not quite believing what I am hearing....

Which country picked up this satellite contact anyway?

Which country picked up this satellite contact anyway?

The reporter on SkyNews repeatedly asked what satellite had picked up the final ping (as depicted in the map handed out) and he was bluntly given the vague answer of "a satellite."

Press conference running 40 minutes late so far. I'm hoping they get this one going eventually, as it is highly anticipated given that they will [supposedly] be answering questions [that were submitted in advance].

tHEY ARE PROBABLY HAVING THEIR P.R. PEOPLE FIND APPROPRIATE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS TO SILENCE EVERYONE. I AM GIVING THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AND THINKING THAT THEY CAN'T SAY TOO MUCH AND SHOW THEIR HAND TO THE HI-JACKERS. MOO

Do you have a link for the conference as I read that it was cancelled?

I am even thinking this answering questions submitted in advance only extremely suspicious.....something is going on here that we don't know about.....I can feel it in my waters...

CNN reporting that a "large contingent" of police just raided the pilot's home. Being characterized as a "large van" full of police. CNN is repeating that they witnessed this event take place, yet they seem to have no footage of it.

This was a passenger plane, not a cargo plane.

MASkargo

It also offers belly space capacity to over 100 destinations across six continents.
(snip)

Boeing 777-200

Istanbul, Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, Pudong, Auckland, Sydney, Mumbai, Delhi, Denpasar

Main Nil

Lower 4 pallets

LD3 3 containers

" due to the relative strength of the passenger business in Asia, which has continued to grow, "Belly space is replacing freighter capacity, or freighters are too expensive to compete with belly space,” commented Robert Song, vice president, Asia-Pacific"

I wonder if the original plan was to have the plane fly aimlessly through Chinese airspace with the hope that the Chinese would shoot down a plane full of civilians... only the Chinese didn't bite. This plan would make sense if the original motive were to make the Chinese government look bad.

On the other hand, if the plane few south the motive would seem more clearly to be pilot suicide. Only I'm not sure why somebody would orchestrate such an elaborate and bizarre suicide.
