It doesn't matter if we're the best. See previous post (?) where I referenced Malaysia not pleased with our help.

Of course they aren't pleased - the U.S. is viewed as a busybody, and our media gets ahold of everything. Plus, I'm sure that this will expose weaknesses in Malaysian security that they would rather have spun in a more positive direction. They would probably rather have full control at this point, because they have an interest in keeping it quiet. And the U.S. does tend to overstep its bounds and cause resentment. I'm not saying we should force our help, but we usually do try to insist on involvement where we have the power to do so. I do not believe Malaysia wants us out because they're not happy with the quality of our help.

Has this article been discussed today (sorry if this is a repeat - could not find it) - I find the time line very telling.... I don't understand the deal about his family moving out the day before. It has been reported in numerous places. Why do believe it not to be true? Also the time line here is very interesting - he left the courtroom and went to the airport and took off on this flight - very upset about ruling on opposition leader. IF he did this and IF his goal was to make Malaysian government look bad to rest of the world - I would say he succeeded .....

A number of reports I've read (don't ask me where, I've looked at so much stuff) said that the pilot's 2 computers were confiscated almost immediately, and that the house has been guarded since then, until finally Malaysian authorities though they had good cause for the search.

And, if the pilot(s) was suicidal, I don't think we will be informed. Malaysia's state religion is Islam. Lots of luck on suicide:

"Don't kill yourself. No doubt Allah (SWT) is merciful and anyone who does so, will be pushed in fire. And it is easy for Allah (swt)." (Nisa: 4:29, 4:30)

I think it is interesting and a possible (unlikely, but possible) explanation for a suicidal pilot to make things so drawn out.

I've mentioned this before in the thread, people consider active and passive behaviours very differently. Passive suicide could be more justifiable (if you're looking for a way to convince yourself you are not doing something as bad as murder or suicide).

For example, if you are a pilot and you use the controls to crash the plane into the ground, you are responsible directly for all of the deaths. This is not in line with your religious beliefs.

On the other hand, you can achieve your same objectives (crash the plane) but not be directly responsible simply by not doing what you are supposed to. Keep flying until you run out of fuel and you're not the one who has killed them, you just didn't save them.

If a person was looking to lessen the terrible thing they are doing, they may find a way to justify to themselves that what they're doing is ok in some way.

That is the only reason I feel the pilot would have for not just crashing, other than a narsasistic desire to be remembered as the pilot who made a plane vanish, never to be found (but they wouldn't know exactly how the plane would break up in a crash landing into the sea, so the pilot wouldn't know if the plane would be found).

I think Rep. King's statements hold a lot of weight because of who he is:

“This has been frustrating for the FBI,” said King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Sub-Committee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence and a former chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security. “My understanding is the Malaysian government is not cooperating.”

I agree with him on having Interpol and the FBI step in because it is now an international criminal investigation. We have every right to be there and to insist on cooperation from the Malaysian government.

I also think the Iranians were written off without much concern. We have valid reasons for the focus on the two flying under stolen passports as they are criminals for simply being on the plane. They need to dive into their every move prior to this trip. Going to see momma is not good enough to simply give a pass. Who are they? Who did they know? What mosque did they attend? What knowledge did they possess of airplanes or terrorism? Too many questions we should already know the answers to in this investigation.

If the person in control of the plane knew the cabin pressure would be compromised due to whatever their plan was, they could don an oxygen mask prior to the event. Hypoxia begins to set in for some people at 15,000 ft. So, the increase to 40,000 ft. would definitely kill everyone who wasn't wearing an oxygen mask.

That is my prevailing theory as to what occurred.

Hopefully...so that the passengers did not suffer much.

That would explain why he lingered in Malaysian airspace for soooo long. But no one was paying attention, and didn't take the bait. So he either ran out of fuel and crashed...or landed somewhere. jmo jmo

We don't know what they have found, we are on a "need to know basis" IMO . If it's a really bad situation that could cause panic, I doubt they would release that info until/unless they absolutely had too. Scary
