This was the fastest thing they did in the whole time rule em out. They knew so much stuff (we now know this for fact) think about it - if we ever find out anything and they are involved that makes the MAL airport people look really really bad IMO another cover up

yes but why not re-release the photo as it really was so that the media isn't constantly re-printing the error?

If and that is a big if, the passengers are still alive, I can't see them releasing them before they undertake the next part of the plan. The "hostages" would give the game away if released and show their hand as to where the plane is. They could be holed out in a desert compound. Ransom could be the next step but not before they do whatever they are going to do with the plane. Juat another thought that has come to me. Having lots of ridiculous thoughts. But who knows? Maybe not so ridiculous. JMOO

The Malaysian gov't has said there was no ransom, but he didn't say there were no hostages.

Does anyone know if this plane was the type that ad monitors in the backs of seats? I usually use Seat Guru to check this, but the already removed MH 370 from their active flight list.

I ask because those TVs usually have a flight map channel where you can watch the flight path, speed and altitude of the plane. I wonder if the passages would have noticed that way that something wasn't right? I just keep thinking about 239 people not knowing what was going on.

If the pilots (or persons in cockpit) did all this, and there were no terrorists fighting their way into the cockpit somehow, I wonder if the passengers knew anything was wrong? If the cockpit door was sealed, there would be nothing the could do to stop it right? I guess they could open a door, but while that would kill the passengers buy depresserizing the plane, would it kill the pilots too? Take the whole plane down?

I keep thinking, if the passengers and crew knew something was wrong, but the wrong was behind a locked cockpit door, is there anything you could do?

Why would they need a shoe bomb to get through a locked cockpit door, if they have an inside man? Everything I've read says the shoe bomb threat was credible, so to me that actually would make the "real" pilot and co-pilot less suspicious. IMO that lends credence to the plan being to blast through a cockpit door and hijack a plane using a shoe bomb. Not have an employed pilot who's on shift take control of the plane.

Also I don't find the timing of the transponder being turned off before the pilot said "all right, good night" suspicious at all. If someone is holding a gun to your head, you're going to do what they tell you to do. That or it could have been a hijacker who said "all right, good night", not a pilot. I believe somewhere back in thread 4 or 5 someone who frequently worked a lot of night shifts said she found the wording odd. People used to working night shifts don't say "good night" to each other because it's their work day. Perhaps the hijackers don't usually work night shifts!!

According to people in this thread YES! That is way to elaborate and expensive to own. You set it up your self? I'm calling the FEDS NOW! Why on earth would a pilot enjoy a flight simulator? Why would a pilot want to practice flying? The only conceivable reason is TERRORISM.

I'm assuming you don't know Derryn and neither do I, so neither you or I or anyone can presume to know their situation! They could be filthy rich, or have a debilitating illness which keeps them house bound, or may have wanted to be a pilot but was unable to because of eyesight or health issues, they could have spent 30 years buying bits and bobs to put this elaborate system together... I could go on and on and on...

It's a legit hobby and many many people do it. Just like some people are right into sport, or music, or fast cars etc.

My understanding is there are 2 ways to make phone calls out from airplanes.

One way is by credit card using the plane's own system where each seat will have a phone right in front of you which is on the back of the seat of the person in front of you. I have seen these phones. You have to have a credit card to use them. The plane has a system which routes these calls to their own transmitter to send the call out.

The other way is by regular cell phone but I do think the plane would have to be low enough to get tower signals. I would think the plane would have to be pretty low for that.

I do not think people were basing their suspicion of the Capt. on the flight simulator ALONE....for me at least - it is the layers and layers of suspicious activity. The most telling (imho) is the *FACT that the transponder was turned off in the cockpit - THEN he spoke with ATC and said "thanks, good night" - *(I say FACT - but this is what the M gov't says - I know the U.S. investigator said she believes they checked his voice to verify it was actually him speaking...as with everything else coming from the M. Gov't - you have to add asterisks and just in cases and CYA's to everything unfortunately)....

I am confused by this, too. This raises some questions. What were they waiting on? Where did they stay? Who were they in contact with besides a criminal who provides false documentation to people along the way? How convenient is it to run into an old high school buddy in another country as soon as you arrive then be invited to stay with them a day or so?

I was watching a show last night about Flight 1771- A disgruntled ex-employee shot the pilots and drove the plane into the ground. The plane travelled faster than the speed of sound and disintegrated so that all that was left was paper, a bit of the gun and a small bit of a seat. No bodies or luggage or seats. I wonder if something like that is possible- the plane went down in a secluded area and there is no real wreckage to be found.

CNN reports Delta flight out of Orlando lost part of a wing but was able to land safely. Not so sure I want to fly to Boston this summer.

I may have to "throttle back" a little bit my view of the system that he had. Pun intended

I blame it on the media as they really had me believing he had quite an elborate system the way they talked.

I do realize it is a great hobby and lots of people have smaller systems that they enjoy. In fact, there was the one kid in the US that stole a small plane and successfully landed it somewhere and he told LE he learned how to fly from a typical flight game simulator.

But all that said, this particular pilot has his plane missing and most people with simulators dont have planes missing too. So, I keep looking at the totality of the evidence so far. Even though it is still not much to go on yet, this guy and the things we are learning about him just rise to more than an inkling for me right now.

Put it in another perspective. Take plane crashes for example. And most plane crashes are missing until the wreckage is found. Lets assume that pilots are most likely to own a flight simulator. If we took a random sample from the entire population, there would probably be a correlation between owning a flight simulator and crashing a plane. Because pilots are the most likely to both crash a plane and own a simulator. But if you took the sample from pilots only, the correlation would probably disappear. If more experienced pilots own more sophisticated simulators, you might even get a negative correlation between how advanced the set-up is and likelihood of crashing. That this pilot had an advanced simulator and his plane is missing is a statistical outlier IMO.

I've often had my phone in my pocket and switched "on" whilst flying - you're right, below a certain altitude you will start to get tower reception - I've had my phone ringing (vibrating in my pocket) on short finals and upon descent into the approach entry... but its all happened below 1500ft generally...

It's happened to me as well on a flight, it kinda freaked me out when it happened. I had a pile of texts come through during descent.

I was just thinking maybe MH370 was so low at one point, and the passengers phones connected to a tower. This is why i'm so adamant. I think someone should look at this more closely, that's all. :seeya:

I wrote that because for a long time it seemed like I was the only one who thought the pilot's "super mega sophisticated and super mega suspicious" simulator wasn't at all sophisticated and not at all suspicious. I think branding anyone a terrorist because they own a simulator is appalling. If you had read the thread you would have noticed that I have almost been screaming that it wasn't an unusual set up and that we know people who have similar and better. It seems pilots like flying and like to practice! Whacky bunch that they are!
