Something in my gut is also telling me Iran. But then I am also thinking Al-Qaeda. Or who knows, they could both be working together.

634 runways of hundreds of airports in the northern corridor that meet landing standards of Boeing 777 will be searched by Malaysia. #MH370

Yeah, that just came through Twitter feed 2 min ago; keeping an eye on it for more.

(Israel is always at the ready, so may mean less than we think...)

I'm not reading too much into this new info.
I take it to mean that Israel is just preparing itself JUST IN CASE.

I have posted that Iranians can go into Malaysia without a visa. They could of hung around for a week while getting their travel arrangements sorted out. :twocents:

Wasn't long ago that I read where the Muslim Brotherhood can come into our country without being checked or detained. Is anyone doing their job?

I've flown those Kuala Lumpur-Auckland flights several times going home to NZ from home in Paris, it makes everything so much more real

that's gotta be the freakiest feeling!

http://www.liveatc.net/flisten.php?mount=yssy_twr&icao=yssy

That's a live feed of Sydney (Australia) ATC Approach and departures.

As you will hear, you get a command/confirm.

So ATC issues a COMMAND to an aircraft, then the aircraft will reply back with a confirmation (repeat back) of that command and then their call sign (identifying themselves)

But listen long enough and you'll hear people get lazy with "understood" or in this case "All right, Good Night"

I think it would be safe to assume an older, more experienced who has a flown his route like a milkman would, would know exactly when switching to another ATC.

So, the "allright, goodnight" does not raise any red flags for me, personally.

Someone asked about radar detection in Australia. This article claims the Jindalee radar network may have been able to detect it if it travelled the southern route.

http://www.smh.com.au/world/missing...ar-australia-says-analyst-20140317-hvjjw.html

We have several "over the horizon" radar systems that would have detected it. Australia's northern approach is our biggest strategic liability and its watched very very closely at all times.

For those of you with Google Earth, jump on there and have a little look around the area of "Exmouth WA, 6707 Australia"

;)

Hi -- It's been a while, but got help to get my password and stuff again....LOL...old age

This case has me amazed. HOW does a whole plane go missing?? This sounds like something Hollywood would do.....but no...it is reality right now.

Anyways, My 2 cents worth -- I think both Pilot are involved (MOO). The pilot with the home simulator is scary. To me -- That REALLY says something. I believe that he was practicing for this day as to have one at home (????) is a bit extreme. I am sure there are places they can go to practice their trade officially -- not in your home. To me that is an extreme way to *practice* your skills - unless your practicing for something not the norm. MOO

Anyways.......do You know about TOMNOD?

Help search for anything in the Water. Be a Sleuth here too.

That's what I'm wondering, too.
If all communications were shut down, how could the pilot have said "alright, good night?"

I believe the "communications shut down" mentioned by media has not been referring to the radio communication but 1) the transponders (& therefore radar), and 2) the engine data that is sent automatically via built-in computerized system on the Boeing plane. I believe it is both of these that were shut down prior to the "Alright, goodnight."

Ex-El Al expert: Iran likely involved in MH 370
Based on profiling, pilots are unlikely suspects, says Israeli airline’s former security chief; he and other experts believe plane intact

“From the United States to China to Japan, everybody is searching for this aircraft or piece of it. And there is no sign. So in my opinion, the aircraft was hijacked. And it was an excellent plan from the terrorists, to land in a place where they can hide the plane and no one can find it.”

Waddles stated that during the press conference it was said that the transponder was shut off before the "All-right, good night" transmission. I responded with the quote from the NYtimes which reports that the matter was not addressed.

And, in the words of Lily Thomplin, that's all I've got to say about that. Pfft. :)

It was said at the press conference . The one where the PM spoke and no one was allowed to ask questions. It was early sat morning here. So maybe the press conference is being confused?

I don't think anyone can say for sure when exactly ACARS was switched off unless it sends a "goodbye" transmission but I can't find evidence of that. All we can know for sure is that it was switched off at some point after the last transmission.

http://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...ommittal-on-mh370-acars-transmissions-396857/

Extract from the above
Presumably the aircraft would have transmitted ACARS data prior to its disappearance, but an industry source familiar with ACARS says this would be entirely dependent on the level of service enshrined in MAS’s ACARS contract with one of two ACARS service providers, ARINC or SITA.

Use of ACARS among carriers varies widely. Users of the service can have data transmitted at widely varying intervals, such as every minute to every thirty minutes.

When an aircraft is flying over land, ACARS data is transmitted via VHF to ground stations, but over water the data is transmitted to satellites.

Typically ACARS data has a narrow focus, with engine performance being the most widely monitored aspect of aircraft health. The flight crew can also deactivate ACARS transmissions if they elect to do so.

Paranoia much?

It wouldn't get anywhere near Isreal - they have one of the most sophisticated defense systems in the world...

Iron Dome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And if anyone had said planes would fly into the World Trade centers in New York, they would have been described as paranoid! But it happened. We are living in that age. Never hurts to expand your mind and consider the possibilities.

Would a flight simulator help a pilot achieve the expertise required to fly a plane of that size at 5000 ft ? Any aviators on board?

OMG :rollercoaster:

Is this true? Or I trying to keep on us on toes? This is crazy, crazy, crazy.

I'd also like to note that Persian New Year is March 21st.

Maybe the system was hacked. :scared:

It's about time someone had the guts to say "terrorism". Everyone seems to be afraid to use that word. Anyone, I don't care what the reason, ANYONE who is responsible for the deaths of 239 people is a terrorist. Period.

It breaks my heart for the family members to have to grieve like this. I have done some reading about the passengers and their normal lives and those who love them. The innocents were likely killed before now. And hopefully, if MH370 is used to try to attack Israel, maybe Israel will blow it out of the sky and show everyone how it's done!

Hopefully they will not send the passengers along with the plane in an attack on Israel... :(
