I hear what you are saying but why? Why would you take a plane to altitudes it was not designed for. It could have been all over in that moment. Especially if your mission was to deliver that plane.

To fly stealth under radar?

This Boeing 777 is a well built plane from what I have read and has broke records.

Which reminds me, where is Boeing? :waitasec:

"Sadly its innocent lives we do care about. And If I was in charge of any airline. The last person to fly one would be anyone of their faith. SORRY I KNOW I SOUND BAD."

I have never once posted here, but read often, as I find the dialogue and insight better than most news sites.

I must say, this post isn't reflective of the open minds I usually see here. Religious extremists are found in nearly every sect. Bombings in the good 'ole USA were done in the name of Christianity, opposing abortion. To insist that someone not be allowed to fulfill a lifelong career goal because of his/her religious values sounds like the epitome of oppression to me...

Are you asking where Boeing is located, or why aren't they commenting???

The point is that with probably the exception of Israel, and now the US, many countries have lax ( I mean lax, not LAX) airport security. My father who has worked in the industries of metal detectors and radar, told me many years ago not to fly to Greece for that reason!
You are correct about that. I think any American in any country should only fly our airlines, because you cant trust how lax they all are.
I also think that if our Airline does not go there we dont need to go there either.
I still have hope since nothing has been found that they are alive somewhere I HOPE.

Phew! Once this is all done, if it ever is. :scared:

We will be: WorldWide Aviation Know-It-Alls. :floorlaugh:

Any info on the next PC from Malaysia?

Figuring it is scheduled for 1730 local (0530 EST) like the previous ones. So far this schedule has remained static (despite them generally starting late) with the exception of the day the PM was in the house.

IMO if it was a pilot, it must have been a suicide mission. I can't image the other pilot sitting there doing nothing while watching this go on. The two pilots weren't connected and didn't request to fly together.
Wondering if either pilot had training in hand to hand combat. One would need to overpower and take out the other. IMO
Unless the weapon screening process is as weak as their passport & radar inspection ...

I don't understand how that makes any sense.

They were talking to ATC, who were not controlling the plane.

No, what I mean is I believe that is what transpired in the cockpit before it made a sudden turn.

Sorry, I should put JMO.

That is not entirely correct...

The aircraft can be steered from what is called the "Mode Select Panel" - which is part of the autopilot.

(Attached Pic)

By simply turning these knobs to the desired setting the aircraft will do what you want it to do, automatically.

A: IAS (Indicated Air Speed) - Setting this to a set speed will make the aircraft maintain this air speed. Nose the plane down, or climb the plane up, the aircraft will automatically set the throttle in order to maintain this speed.

B: Heading (direction) - Think of this like a 360 degree compass... well.. that's exactly what it is. Set the heading (compass heading) and the plane will turn to fly in that direction and hold that heading. So, all it would have taken to turn the plane west here would be a simple turn of the knob a few to the left and the plane would have tracked west. As you will notice in the video links below, the pilots "Steering wheel" does not even move or turn during this... its a seperate system. In fact, this is how large commercial airline type aircraft are mostly flown. *Shock Horror!* "You mean they don't use the Yoke to steer the plane?" - Well, they do, but far less than you would think... far far less!

The whole thing is pretty much done by twisting these three knobs!

C: ALT (Altitude) - Controls the planes height setting... self explanatory really...

Please tell me they aren't made of plastic but some sort of "very, very" strong metal!!!

Thank you! That's been my hair raising take away from this horrible mystery as well. My outrage has been realizing that while I am under the microscope for air travel my safety is jeopardized by the lack of consistency worldwide!

I agree - at first I was a little suspicious about it, since didn't the 9/11 terrorists train in simulators? But from more reading, it seems like he just liked to share his love of flying with others. He also flew model planes - pretty obsessed with aircraft, as many/most pilots are!
People who are obsessed about anything are obsessed about more than one thing for sure.
Some are well trained not to let on anything more.

CNN is now saying that the ACARS system should NEVER be shut off mid-air, the only reason for an off-switch is to shut the power when you land on the ground. You no longer need radar. ACARS would have reported a fire. There are 4 different screens in the cockpit for ACARS.
