Regarding the cargo: Several days ago (don't remember how many and I'll never find it again) I read on an Asian news website that a large amount of a certain fruit was a large part of the cargo. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the fruit.

Here is what I remember about the fruit: It grows on a tree, it is native to Malaysia, Malaysia exports a lot of it, it is expensive to purchse
Well, that would certainly be a first! A hijacking for fruit! Though it is amazing how much people in some Asian countries will pay for fruit. A few years back, they were paying astronomical amounts for Washington Rainier cherries in Japan - like $1 per cherry!

$8 a piece? That's a quarter million $ worth of fruit!

I think this is very troubling news if it proves to be accurate
What's troubling about it? The PKR is a pro-Democratic party, and doesn't seem extremist in their views. And most Westerners would probably agree that Ibrahim was falsely imprisoned. Imprisoned for being homosexual? How is that reasonable? Sounds like the party in power are the REAL extremists!

Unconfirmed reports in Malaysian media say investigators probing the homemade flight simulator of the MH370 captain have found five runways from Indian Ocean airports programmed into it.

The Berita Harian Malay language paper quotes unnamed sources close to the investigation as saying that the airport runways were Male International Airport in the Maldives, Diego Garcia and three runways in India and Sri Lanka.

The source is quoted as saying that all the runways programmed into the simulator are 1000 metres long.

I'm not sure if this is a smear campaign ...

Isn't it ironic that we expect pilots to be ''perfect'' ..... part of his ability to respond to an emergency would be to keep ''fit'' in terms of preparation for an emergency. I would suspect that to keep on top of his game he had to face medical exams and keep himself in good shape etc. It would seem to me (JMO) that I would keep myself updated on nearby small airstrips in case god forbid I had an emergency as a pilot....simplified view...but I am a simple mind I guess.

OT: if anyone is interested, a few days ago tweets were posted from a twitter account which i cannot remember right now. one of his/her followers is heather poole. she is a flight attendant who wrote a hilarious book (and a NYT best seller!) about her experiences:

True. Especially with larger families.
