They are saying that it is the first time in 52 years that the Dutch have had a National Day of Mourning.

All those hearses.

All those flags at half staff, their rings singing a tribute in the silence.

Reporters: Sarah Fowler, Harry Low and Victoria Park:

15:54: A motorcade is leaving the airport to head to the Korporaal van Oudheusden barracks. Motorways between Eindhoven and Hilversum - where the bodies are being transferred - have been closed along a 100 kilometre (65 mile) stretch to allow the long convoy of hearses carrying coffins to pass.

The TV footage is so hard to watch. I can hear the cries too. I realised that what I'm feeling is a fraction of what the families are feeling. I can't imagine seeing that, praying and hoping your loved ones were on the Dutch or RAAF jet.

So sad. My experience with others who have lost a child/children is we all feel as though we will walk through hell until we leave this earth and we would not wish the pain of loss on our worse enemies. These are the common threads that hold us together in our grief.

I thought that was a very powerful statement made by Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris. Experience of my brothers death though shows me not everyone has the same mentality. I know it makes me sound like a bad person, but I want the person who is responsible for my brothers death to know what the pain feels like, every day of our lives. I need him to, and it damages every aspect of my life as the anger is so destructive. I think it's clear the family does feel a huge amount of hatred, but I read the statement almost like a vow to make sure love beats the hate. I hope the families of all the passengers are able to get past the agressive and overwhelming anger in time and express love in the way this family has. I wish love was the most powerful force for everyone!

Sorry if considered off-topic.

I've never seen a more dignified transfer of remains, slow and methodical, each body showed tremendous care and respect that they deserve.

Four more coffins ...... then the fleet of 40 hearse will depart for Hilversum.

Livestram continues until the coffins arrive in Hilversum.

On the side of the roads and on the viaduct, many people are waiting to pay their respects.
I hope they keep hydrated in this weather.

The Dutch and RAAF jets will return to Kharkiv to bring more bodies to Holland.

Relatives applaud the military who carried the coffins.

Dutch King and Queen now leaving, hand in hand.

I think it should have been done immediately. Guards need to be sent to guard the mongrel guards. jmo

Yes, it's kind of shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Yes, but I think time was needed for a full assessment of the situation and who knows what going on behind closed doors.
