CONFUSION ABOUT DEPLOYMENT

Nieuwsuur reports:

http://nieuwsuur.nl/onderwerp/679679

Translation:

Last night forty members of the Dutch military police arrived in Ukraine. But it remains unclear whether they will be able to do their work. According to the Dutch Team Forensic Detection this may take days, but that is contradicted by the Crisis Center in The Hague.

The Dutch team of military police and forensic experts can start the work in Ukraine at the earliest on Thursday, the head of National Team Forensic Detection said tonight at a press conference in Ukraine. According to Jan Tuinder, the leader of the investigations, the Ukrainian Parliament will first have to vote on the mission and that will not happen untill Thursday.

The militairy police will assist the investigators with the search and collection of the remains and belongings left behind by the victims of the air disaster. A smaller team of investigators is already active in disaster area and has permission to enter the area. But they could not to work today because there were fights in the region. Tomorrow that team will make another effort.

However, the Crisis Center in the Hague says in a comment that the Ukrainian Parliament only decides about the expansion of the number of unarmed agents from other countries. The military police who are now in Ukraine, can start their work on the crash site, as soon as the security situation permits this. No vote by the Ukrainian Parliament is required.

Ukraine Says New Tapes Prove Russia Finances Rebels Who Shot Down Malaysian Plane |

Ukraine's security service, the SBU, posted three recordings to YouTube on Friday that it said were phone taps of the separatists' political leader, military commander, and the loose cannon rebel it alleges shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, killing all 298 on board. The new tapes could not be independently verified, though the content of some other conversations previously leaked by the SBU — some of which involve the same men — has been proven genuine.

Embedded video posted in article:

WARNING: Graphic Language

Caption from video #1:

“The military situation sucks. You know and understand that,” says the man alleged to be Borodai. “The DNR [Donetsk People’s Republic] looks like a :censored: with Donetsk as the head and it’s not looking promising.”

Fatima's parents again...
I don't know, but I see some peace in this picture.
As if they did part of their grieving while running around the world.
I may be wrong. But this is what I hope.

Fatima graduated in Aircraft and Spaceship Technology at Delft University in The Netherlands
So did a nephew of mine. I wonder if he knew her, he is a few years older.

Fatima was a brilliant student who had already published her first scientific paper before she graduated.
Fatima stood out because of her vision, ambition and drive and her passion for the space. She set up a private company, Xoterra Space, where she worked on high-tech applications for the commercial use of Big Data analysis. She wanted to create a better the world in which people are more connected.

Abbott's mission to Ukraine branded 'nuts'

Australian Defence Force personnel will be walking unprepared into a volatile situation at the MH17 crash site in Ukraine, a senior defence figure has warned.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott's announcement of Australia's intention to send 190 armed Australian Federal Police and an unknown number of ADF personnel to help recover bodies and evidence from the site has been met with incredulity in some parts of Europe, with one analyst branding it ''nuts''.

The senior defence figure, who did not wish to be named, said it was a poor idea for Australia.

''They can't secure the site,'' he said. ''It's kilometres long and wide. They could escort Australian officials and provide close protection, but this is a civil task rather than a military task and it's a terribly volatile area.

''We don't have the language skills or knowledge of the area.

Yep, at least someone finally said it .. I wonder at Tony Abbott sometimes, he seems to have taken great delight in making a big show of himself during the aftermath of this tragedy .. I hope it is not going to be at the cost of more lives.

Wait, so the grandmother was in Amsterdam and wants to go back to Texas.........why was the grandmother in Amsterdam?
I don't understand this article.

And I can understand that the airline needs some time to gather all the info on next of kin, to give them the 5.000 dollars or euro.
Why the hurry?
If one of my family members had been on the plane, money would be the last thing on my mind.

Yeah .. that article is confusing .. guess they're lining up to sue somebody.

It has been suggested that the Dutch PM Rutte and the Australian PM Abbot are playing Good Cop, Bad Cop.
Rutte is the good cop, because that is all the situation allows for this moment.
Abbot is the bad cop who does not care about Putin and Russia, he can shout his heart out - but is it happening?

Keep your eye on the ball, and the two FM's who are travelling the world together.

I don't understand Abbott at the best of times. It isn't that Australia is sending troops that bothers me. I do think the AFP has a legitimate role (assuming the relevant parties agree), and that the Australian military has a role in protecting them. But I'm genuinely scared by Abbott and the govt's rhetoric. This hard-line stance is the same that they've taken with refugees, which I'm opposed to. Why are Abbott and Bishop being so tough? I don't believe they had to take this approach to get Australian victims home. I just see them using this situation to win support in Australia, but I'm worried about how this is going to play out in Eastern Ukraine of all places. I'm worried for our members of the AFP and the military. And I'm worried about what Australia is dragging itself into.

Those lawyers see $ signs or euro signs or whatever.
IMO, it's sickening, the victims have not even been identified or buried, and all some people can think about is money.

We don't even know of the Russian president is responsible for this.

I guess those lawyers want to be first in line.

Yuck

Kimi thank you, the photos were lovely. Perhaps we humans are hard-wired to see patterns, but to me they were 'descansos.' The last place the soul remained before it left. Descanso in Spanish comes from the verb --descansar--to rest. Even if you have no religion, the sentiment alone is tender.

Yes, I agree it is popularist grandstanding .. my only hope is they don't make a bad situation worse. I prefer the Dutch approach .. much more about the victims and less about political point scoring .. Abbott is very black and white, it worries me.

It is a beautiful photo in that it appears to reflect some inner peace the parents have found by travelling to the crash site. The photo of them sitting on part of the plane itself depicts a realization that so many others also perished with Fatima. They are not alone.

Blessings to them...

The cuddly toys that were thrown at the the fleet of mourning cars in the past few days will be collected by the Department of Public Works tomorrow.
Rijkswaterstaat will take the teddybears to the barracks in Hilversum, where the victims were also brought in. "So many people have thrown flowers and cuddly toys, we have to do something with them."
