The father of a 2-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter and child endangerment after the toddler died in a brook in Clarksburg while the man was allegedly fleeing the scene of a car crash, according to authorities.

Darel A. Galorenzo, a 35-year-old Readsboro, Vermont man, was charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment of a child, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and driving under the influence. He is accused of getting into the crash while intoxicated and losing his son while fleeing the scene. The boy was then found with drowning injuries in Hudson Brook and pronounced dead at the hospital, Massachusetts State Police said.

It looks like the courts are gonna throw the book at dad, as IMO should happen.
Driving while intoxicated is stupid and bad enuff, but to dwi with someone else in the vehicle is the worst. And the someone else was his 2 year old son.

A Vermont man pleaded not guilty Monday to manslaughter in the death of his 2-year-old son, who police say may have been dropped in a fast-moving stream as his father fled the scene of a car crash in Massachusetts.

Darel A. Galorenzo, 35, of Readsboro, Vermont, was held on $250,000 bail at his arraignment in Northern Berkshire District Court in North Adams. He also pleaded not guilty to operating under the influence, reckless endangerment of a child and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to court records.
