Blech. :(

I'm fairly new to actually being involved somewhat in a case, but if it's legal, and possible for someone other than LE to gain info, I could print out the photos of the necklace/ring and physically take it to Eden Jewelers down in Casa Grande to see if someone remembers any distinguishing characteristics about the ring. Such as whether or not it was actually in monogram lettering (which would mean that the middle letter would indeed be the last name) or not.

The only problem is without a name of the female who helped LE with the ring, it would be a crapshoot. I suppose I could call down there ahead of time to find out if there are any females who still work there that were there in Jan/Feb of 1999 to see if a trip out would actually be worth it.

According to the report, that "she" was the shop owner.

Thanks, missed that the first time. Should make it easier in checking if she's still there. :)

One of the people on here already found the same kind of ring on a website and determined it wasn't a monogram style lettering where the middle initial is actually the last name. It's an in line style lettering. She even came up with the script name, but I can't recall who it was who came up with the info or what the name of the script was. My memory is going to hell in a hand basket.

Aside from that then perhaps she can recall if there were any identifiable markings or writing on the inside of the band.

FWIW, I think Robins statement is the truth. She knew MJD at least well enough that they had a few personal conversations, and was certain in her statements. There were no "I think's" or "maybe's". She knew her well enough to try to talk her out of prostituting and know she was denied the job at the strip club because she was only 15. Well enough to know she went by "Corey or Carla" (and maybe she used both). She was certain that MJD's pimp was "the guy Phoenix put in jail for bringing the 13 year old girl from back east". That makes sense too, since MJD was new and young, she was easy prey for Alonzo with her pimp being locked up. I don't think a more experienced prostitute would have gotten in a car with another pimp.

Since she doesn't seem to have been in the area long enough to look more than "familiar" to the regulars, and wasn't known by vice..I'd say she wasn't there long. And KL, by his own admission, had only been there a little while. My own opinion is that he brought her there.

So here's my line of thinking: KL is from Wisconsin. Court minutes said he was granted incarceration in Wisconsin to "be near family" which tells me he wasn't a drifter. Wisconsin was "home". He may have only been in Phoenix a little while this time, but he was probably making several trips a year from Wisconsin to Phoenix. He also seems to have been part of an organized ring, since there were quite a few codefendents with charges ranging from running a house of prostitution to money laundering....organized trafficking of these children, with his job being to recruit them, bring them to Phoenix, and get them out working. If I google a map running from Milwaukee to Phoenix, it's likely he went through the following cities:

Milwaukee, WI
Des Moines, IA
Kansas City, MO
Wichita, KS
Guymore, OK
(or he could have shot down another highway into OK city)
Albuquerque, NM
Then into Phoenix.

[snip]

I'm from Chicago. I've been up to Milwaukee many times. I believe KL would have came down through Illinois on his way to Phoenix.

The route he probably took was straight down I-43 in Wisconsin to Illinois Route 39 straight through Rockford, IL to I-55 South to I-44 in Missouri to I-40 in Oklahoma to I-17 in Arizona to Phoenix.

Here's a list of towns he would have passed through on this route:
* Elkhorn and Delevan, WI
* Beloit, WI (Janesville, WI is just north and is a larger city)
* Rockford, IL
* LaSalle and Peru, IL
* Bloomington-Normal, IL (College town)
* Springfield, IL (State Capital of Illinois)
* St. Louis, MO
* Springfield, MO
* Tulsa, OK
* Oklahoma City, OK
* Amarillo, TX
* Santa Rosa, TX
* Albuquerque, NM
* Flagstaff, AZ
* Phoenix, AZ

Or another route he could have taken was straight down I-43 in Wisconsin to Illinois Route 39 straight through Rockford, IL to I-80 West to I-76 to I-25 to I-40 to I-17 to Phoenix.

Here's a list of towns he would have passed through on this route:
* Elkhorn and Delevan, WI (small towns)
* Beloit, WI (Janesville, WI is just north and is a larger city)
* Rockford, IL
* Lasalle and Peru, IL
* Princeton, IL (I believe this is a prison town)
* Quad Cities (Moline, IL, Rock Island, IL, Bettendorf, IA, & Davenport, IA)
* Iowa City, IA
* Des Moines, IA
* Omaha, NE
* Lincoln, NE
* Denver, CO
* Colorado Springs, CO
* Pueblo, CO
* Santa Fe, NM
* Albuquerque, NM
* Flagstaff, AZ
* Phoenix, AZ

FWIW: If it was in the "monogram" style, the middle initial would be larger than the rest, which would indicate that it was the last name. The middle initial on the ring does not (IMHO) appear to be larger than the "D" or the "A", therefore I believe it is just the middle initial and not the initial of the last name.

That was me! ;) I believe the script name was "Silverware Script." I think that's somewhere on Thread #5...

I agree. Every monogram I've ever seen has had the middle letter (last name initial) enlarged and kind of over the top of the other two letters.

It "slightly" appears a bit larger to me. The top of the M looks to extend beyond the top of the D, and the A on the right seems squished in the corner. I guess it's hard to tell exactly without a macro (extreme clear closeup shot) of the face of the ring.

I'm thinking we should focus on missing persons cases from the following states:

* Wisconsin
* Illinois
* Iowa
* Missouri
* Oklahoma
* Nebraska
* Colorado
* Texas
* New Mexico
* Arizona

Does anyone recall where the 13YO was from (the one that KL was caught trafficking)? We should also focus on that state as well. If my memory serves me right I believe it may have been Michigan but I could be wrong on that.

HEY! Thats it! Silverware Script. I kept thinking basket weave script for some reason :crazy:

No, but I recall info from somewhere that he brought three girls with him, two of whom are unidentified. There were references when they talked to KL in jail to the street name of Kansas City Slim. Maybe he's picking these girls up in Kansas City MO?

I hadn't caught that she was born in WI. I got the idea she was the "mom" to the gang. Wauwatosa is right outside of Milwaukee. Considering what he was doing, he would have taken a route that gives him an abundance of runaways and throw aways. Do you recall what some of the midwest hub cities were from the trafficking article?

Does anyone have a list of KL's aliases? If so can you pm them to me because I'm also checking wanteds in and around those cities. Maybe we could come up with a picture of him that way.

I don't think KL has any alias At least not according to his police records in Phoenix and Wisconsin.
