Maybe MJD was a "regular" runaway. Perhaps her parents or legal guardian never thought to report her missing (I'm not trying to be pessimistic here). In high school, I had friends who would run away for a few weeks to over a month and their parents wouldn't even question it because they knew they'd eventually come back. Maybe time passed on and her guardians never reported her missing for months and months and thought that they may run into trouble with LE for reporting a minor missing "too late". I really hope that they can find that residence! I think it's important! Even if it isn't family, it could be someone who knew way more about MJD that anyone at this point. And most likely a name. If she came out of the house with a bag of her possessions, she was most likely living there. I wonder why her bag went missing if they didn't make any other stops between the house and the interstate. Did they ditch her things somewhere? When they impounded the car, did they just assume they were LDJ's possessions? Hmmm...

I also re-read the report Here are a few things I found that stood out to me...

1) In Alonzos interview he said the Victim told him that she was a Prostitute........Ok that makes since Hello, Im a Prostitute nice to meet you....Instead of hey Im....so and so

2) In Lindseys 1st interview she said she had NEVER seen the victim prior to that Morning.....Later in a 2nd interview she says that she MAY have SEEN the victim BEFORE...........WHY LIE ABOUT THAT IT MAKES NO SINCE UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE

3) the report indicates Lindsey and Alonzo Through out the interview they changed their statements....

4) Witnesses state AFTER she exited the vehicle the CAR passed them on the SHOULDER.....(the semi slowed down in front of them to try to block him in) he just passed them on the shoulder of the road......WHY the HURRY to get out of dodge??

5) report states 2 trojan CONDOMS were found.....(the purse was stuffed why only 2)

6) They found her PANTIES the next day Tangled in her shirt???? I thought Shaine had indicated when he got to her that she had on the tank top and skirt and No underware.........then the emts cut the clothes from her but WHY would the panties be tangled in her shirt if she werent wearing them when she exited the vehicle??? Im sure jumping out didnt knock them off

7) Lindsey says the backseat was full of their possesions so maybe that clears up the point that MJD could have been sitting in the backseat.

8) Alonzo indicated he had known Lindsey 3 YEARS and they were in town for 2 months

9) it was indicated they picked her up behind the store w/ a group of men ???? Maybe they "SOLD" her to ALONZO??

The report is a little confusing sometimes. I took it to mean, that he had seen the argument the same day that he (Alonzo) was on tv later in that day - the argument taking place around 1pm, which would have been an hour before the accident. We've only read about the KSAZ interview that was on tv on Thursday; there may have been a news story with photos that day (Tuesday) or even on another channel that he may have been referring to.

EDIT
The detective I talk to also thinks it may have been KL... Now are you confused enough?

This has been my vote from day one...:blowkiss:

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: Anything's worth a shot. Try girls with the initials DMA first. The websites I found rings that matched the one she had, had them listed as a ladies' signet ring.

OR initials D. A. M., just in case the "M" in the center on the ring was actually her last name.... Just a thought.

VERY good points!

Maybe they did "sell" her to Alonzo and when MJD found out she wanted nothing to do with it.

Shaine did say she wasn't wearing panties. IDK how they'd get tangled in her shirt, unless she turned a trick with Alonzo prior to LDJ getting in to the car and she "forgot" about them when she was getting dressed and somehow they got tangled in her shirt unbeknownst to her.... Hard to believe, but I guess it's possible...

It's been said that she didn't try to put her arms out to stop her fall, she rolled continuously, and Shaine stated she had tried to life herself up on her forearms. It's very possible she may have been on her stomach when her rolling came to a stop. Providing Shaine isn't a perv, only glancing at her backside would make a G-STRING look like she wasn't wearing anything to begin with. It's never been said what type of 'panties' they were. Not to get all discriminatory or anything, but most males don't know the difference between a g-string, thong, french cut, etc. To them it's all underwear.

FWIW, I think Robins statement is the truth. She knew MJD at least well enough that they had a few personal conversations, and was certain in her statements. There were no "I think's" or "maybe's". She knew her well enough to try to talk her out of prostituting and know she was denied the job at the strip club because she was only 15. Well enough to know she went by "Corey or Carla" (and maybe she used both). She was certain that MJD's pimp was "the guy Phoenix put in jail for bringing the 13 year old girl from back east". That makes sense too, since MJD was new and young, she was easy prey for Alonzo with her pimp being locked up. I don't think a more experienced prostitute would have gotten in a car with another pimp.

Since she doesn't seem to have been in the area long enough to look more than "familiar" to the regulars, and wasn't known by vice..I'd say she wasn't there long. And KL, by his own admission, had only been there a little while. My own opinion is that he brought her there.

So here's my line of thinking: KL is from Wisconsin. Court minutes said he was granted incarceration in Wisconsin to "be near family" which tells me he wasn't a drifter. Wisconsin was "home". He may have only been in Phoenix a little while this time, but he was probably making several trips a year from Wisconsin to Phoenix. He also seems to have been part of an organized ring, since there were quite a few codefendents with charges ranging from running a house of prostitution to money laundering....organized trafficking of these children, with his job being to recruit them, bring them to Phoenix, and get them out working. If I google a map running from Milwaukee to Phoenix, it's likely he went through the following cities:

Milwaukee, WI
Des Moines, IA
Kansas City, MO
Wichita, KS
Guymore, OK
(or he could have shot down another highway into OK city)
Albuquerque, NM
Then into Phoenix.

Perhaps we should be concentrating on missing girls from towns surrounding these areas. I don't think he would have been snatching little girls playing in the front yard of their homes, because that type of abduction spawns a manhunt. We should be looking for maybe a runaway, or wild child who went out partying and wasn't seen again. When I used to go check on my sister, the thing that always struck me was that these guys didn't look like pimps. They were tastefully dressed, smelled good, they were clean and clean cut. They looked like someone who was on their way to a sales job. They didn't "come on" like pimps either. They would always come on with this "I can make it all better" routine. One I remember vividly approached me with "you looked cold so I got you a cup of coffee." The first time I went to find her, I heard she was hanging out in front of a certain night club. I went to that night club and stood around waiting to spot her, and all these nicely dressed friendly guys kept approaching me.. me, being ignorant at the time, and thinking pimps look like they do on tv, didn't even realize. There was a cabbie sitting in front of the night club who waived me over. I went over to talk to him and he said "baby, you stand over here by me. you don't belong here." I said "is it that obvious?" He laughed and said "thems pimps on you. If you take a ride from one of them boys, the next time I see you, you'll be working the streets." My point with all this babbling is that she could've just thought "he looks nice" and accepted a ride. Because they DO look like nice guys, and based on my experience, they can sniff out the girls that are naive and alone. Maybe a runaway who came up missing sometime in 1998.

Does anyone have a list of KL's aliases? If so can you pm them to me because I'm also checking wanteds in and around those cities. Maybe we could come up with a picture of him that way.

  • #450
The photo cd is in... will have some for y'all soon. Most not too interesting.

There aren't any on his AZ Corrections inmate sheet. If he does have aliases, LE might not know of them.

not to derail the thread, but I've been reading for a while and I just wanted to
say: I know there's a way to go, but look how far you've come in regards to identifying MJD. We know so much more now than we did in '06, and it's all because of WSers perserverance. We're going to find out her name soon, I just know it!

(/end cheerleading)

We will take the uninteresting, FMW!!! Kudos for you getting a hold of it!!!:blowkiss:

^^ Agreed. When put under a microscope even what seems uninteresting or invalid may actually hold something. Even the smallest detail would help. :)

What I'd personally love to know is if there's some sort of copyright/trademark/signature of the maker/seller inside the band of the ring, and if so they might hold sales records - especially since it holds real diamonds.

For example, my class ring from high school has "© Jostens 10K" just off to the side next to the engraving of my name (inside the band).

That's what I hoping to see, but there's not a pic of the inside, only one which barely shows that there is something there.

  • #456
Is there a way to have someone physically check the inside of the band? It should still be somewhere in an evidence locker since nobody claimed her.

  • #457
I double checked the police report, and there were a lot more photos taken of the ring, so you may not have received all of them. On the page where in the upper left it says "Seq Name 14" it lists that more than half the roll was of the ring alone.

Hey, you're right about that. I just took my rings off, on my wedding band, just the standard 10K mark, but my engagement ring is a solitaire diamond and has all kinds of stuff written in it. Never noticed that before. I have no idea what any of it means, but it must mean something, right? If we could find out what markings are inside that ring, I could ask the jeweler here in town if he could tell me about the markings. It's a family run business, and they're helpful folks whether I'm shopping or asking them about something I picked up at a garage sale. If I catch the older gentleman in there, he knows his stuff.

I'm fairly new to actually being involved somewhat in a case, but if it's legal, and possible for someone other than LE to gain info, I could print out the photos of the necklace/ring and physically take it to Eden Jewelers down in Casa Grande to see if someone remembers any distinguishing characteristics about the ring. Such as whether or not it was actually in monogram lettering (which would mean that the middle letter would indeed be the last name) or not.

The only problem is without a name of the female who helped LE with the ring, it would be a crapshoot. I suppose I could call down there ahead of time to find out if there are any females who still work there that were there in Jan/Feb of 1999 to see if a trip out would actually be worth it.

Nope, got them all. I'll have them up soon. 11 of the 16 are mostly the same view of the ring:confused:
