"He was afraid he would get caught and the only person who could help him get caught was Mr. Wright," Hunter said.

The same witness also testified Mark Sievers was concerned about getting arrested after Teresa Sievers was killed and that he was concerned Wright would say something about him.

Hunter asks how Mark Sievers could have forgotten all the work and money he and Teresa Sievers put into life insurance policies. A witness on Monday testified that Mark Sievers acted like he forgotten about the life insurance after Teresa's death.

All those sips of water from that tiny cup and now that the water is almost gone, he's taking notes. He can't stop himself because he feels the need to be seen as a smart person. MS brings out my mean side that I didn't even know was there.

I hope he doesn't pull an Oscar Pistorius in court... As times he appears to be hyperventilating for 5 seconds... then takes a Tum....

ETA: For those who didn't follow Oscar trial, he threw up in a bucket in the courtroom

State pointed out an inconsistency from Wright's testimony. He claimed Jimmy Rodgers' joked about killing Teresa Sievers with claw of hammer. Other testimony disproves that. Hunter asks jurors, "does it matter? In the whole big scheme... whether or not she was hit with the claw?"

Mark Sievers was not inquisitive and made excuses after Wright's arrest for his wife's murder, Hunter said.

Mark Sievers told multiple people he did not know Jimmy Rodgers even though they associated at Wright's wedding in May 2015, Hunter said.

Hunter is talking about testimony from a witness who said Mark Sievers did not appear upset at Wright after Wright was arrested in connection with the murder.

ASA Hamid is talking about how Mark forgot he had that life insurance policy.

Why was he so concerned his best friend would say he was involved in a murder?

He's not upset at his best friend for killing his wife. No, he says the opposite of that. They're, LE, just trying to take short cuts.

Mark Sievers criticized the sheriff's office and was more angry with them than the two people under arrest for his wife's murder, Hunter said.

The state is not suggesting Rodgers and Mark Sievers had direct contact in the plot to kill, Hunter said. "Why doesn't he want to ask why. He knows why," Hunter said of Mark Sievers.

Why does Scott Sievers have to deliver the news to Mr. Wright?

Pieces of the puzzle. The whole purpose of sitting here is for the Jury to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

A vision of the pieces of the puzzle on display. Juror's Duty on a display.

Brings back more memories from years ago when we learned that Jimmy and Mark had an "altercation" over a parking space at CWW's wedding IIRC.

That was never brought up in court though... was it rumor?

Why was it such a struggle yesterday for Ms. Ross to get answers from Ms. Lyons about a document she wrote?

ASA Hamid asks:
Why was it so difficult for ASA Ross to get answers from the estate planning attorney Monica Lyons?

I'm really encouraged so far.

Mark Sievers did not ask to speak with Teresa Sievers, how she got hurt, or what hospital she was going to to go, when Mark Petrites called him. Petrites did not tell Mark Sievers his wife was dead a the time, Petrites testified.

Mark Sievers didn't ask because he already knew, Hunter said.

If Mark Sievers is innocent then why didn't he deliver the news of Teresa Sievers' death himself to Wright, Hunter asks.

The whole purpose of sitting and listening to all the evidence is for the jury to put the pieces of the puzzle together, Hunter said.

Hunter is displaying a graphic with puzzle pieces.

The pieces are the "recon mission" to the neighbor's house, the text messages between the defendant, the burner phone locations, testimony of Wright, Mark Sievers' behavior and existence of insurance policies are all pieces of the puzzle, Hunter said.

Hunter is explaining to the jurors what they are not allowed to consider during deliberations. This includes passion, public opinion, dislike of the law or sympathy for the attorney, Hunter said.

Why was it so difficult for ASA Ross to get answers from the estate planning attorney Monica Lyons, Hunter asks. Maybe she has an interest in how this case is determined, Hunter said.

Hunter tells the jurors to ask why and keep asking why. "Why is Dr. Sievers dead," Hunter asked. Why would Wright act on his own and kill her, Hunter asks.

State reminded jurors about some of Mark Sievers' behavior after his wife's murder. When Mark was first told something horrible had happened, state told jurors he didn't ask how badly she was hurt or if Teresa Sievers was going to the hospital. "He didn't ask because he knew".

State is looking to tie everything together neatly for jurors before deliberations. Just now showed jurors literal “pieces of a puzzle” in the murder. Like Mark Sievers’ behavior and the insurance policies.

Hunter wrapping after an hour, encouraging the jury to ask "why". "Why is Dr. Sievers, a medical doctor, mother of two, and wife, dead?

Hunter beginning to wrap up his closing arguments. "Why would Mr. Wright act on his own with Jimmy Rodgers to do this? Why is Dr. Sievers dead?"

Hunter tells the jurors at the end he will thank the jurors for their verdict of guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy. That's it from the state for now. Defense will present their closing arguments then the state will get a rebuttal.

There's no way this will end in an acquittal. I'm ok with either guilty or a hung jury. Of course guilty is preferable!

ASA Hamid in Closing did a fine job tying the facts, as presented, together in a way that jurors can work with as puzzle pieces.

I liked that he put their responsibilities out there on a chart, an actual visual form of their responsibilities and what to disregard.
