Fentress concluded the hair with the same DNA sequence as Rodgers could not have come from Teresa Sievers, Mark Sievers or Curtis Wayne Wright Jr., according to DNA testing.
"We specifically say we cannot exclude," Fentress said when asked if the DNA from the hair found on the coverall matched Jimmy Ray Rodgers' DNA.
Sunlight could impact the ability to extract DNA from evidence, Fentress said. Sunlight can break DNA down and rain could wash it away, she said.
Defense Attorney Micheal Mummert is now cross examining Fentress. Fentress said she could not determine how long the hair had been on the coveralls or where and when it got there.
Fentress said she does not know if the hair found on the jumpsuit was body hair or head hair. No hammers were submitted for DNA testing, Fentress said.
Fentress did not perform Mitochondrial DNA testing on a black backpack, but nuclear DNA testing was performed on it.
Teresa Sievers' DNA was not found on the blue coverall or inside the Hyundai Elantra as far as the testing Fentress performed, Fentress said.
That's all the questions for Fentress and she is released from the witness stand.

Prosecution is done with direct on this. Again, extreme detail and more of the same matching #jimmyrodgersontrial. (His hair (or something similar) was found on what was believed to be his jumpsuit.) Defense now.
Defense zoning in on other things received by FBI but not addressed here, like the black backpack. Some DNA testing done on that but nothing being presented in court. No hammer sent off.
Witness released. Hopefully for everyone's sake, that's the end of the detailed witnesses here. And worth a mention, 2 of the state's 5 remaining. They COULD wrap today.
The state has three or so remaining witnesses. We usually have a better idea who remains based on the witness list; however, the state is only using about a third of their witness list in this trial.
State just announced next up is Taylor Shomaker.

I don't know. My brain refuses to care. So far today there's been talk of a fiber, fiber, fiber, fiber, then mitochondrial dna said one thousand times. I got up early for this! None of this is going to actually link Mark to arranging to have his wife killed. I do not understand the Prosecution.

She is the key IMO. CWW's testimony is supported by the evidence and TS can tie it all together..

Agree, Beach. I’m ready to pull my hair out! JMO—the state doesn’t appear prepared. A possible ‘saving grace’: this is Monday, just off the Thanksgiving wkend. If some key witnesses are possibly traveling today or had a planned late arrival back into Ft Myers area... hoping Tuesday’s trial has a power surge. If MS does get an OJ outcome... in the end he will never see the Pearly Gates. The open Furnace Door is waiting for him.

Court is back in session. The next witness is Taylor Shomaker. Shomaker testified in the Jimmy Rodgers trial last month. She is Rodgers ex-girlfriend. In 2015, she lived with Rodgers in Missouri.
Shomaker has a child with Jimmy Ray Rodgers, she said. Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Rodgers were friends, Shomaker said. She attended Wright's wedding in May 2015 with Rodgers and met Mark Sievers at the wedding festivities, Shomaker said.
Shomaker said the night before the wedding Mark Sievers and Wright had a private conversation in Angela and Curtis Wright's bedroom. The next day was the wedding, Shomaker said.
Shomaker is identifying photos of herself and Rodgers at the wedding.

After his trip to Florida, Rodgers picked Shomaker up from her mother's home, Shomaker said. There was a cooler in their kitchen and a backpack on the counter when she arrived home, Shomaker said.

Rodgers also brought a decorative plaque home from Florida that was hung up in the former couple's home, Shomaker said.
Jurors are now looking a photo of the home where Rodgers and Shomaker lived as well as a photo of the former couple's car.
On July 18, 2015, two detective from Lee County Sheriff's Office came to the home where Rodgers and Shomaker lived, Shomaker said. Rodgers arrived home and "pretty much shut them down," Shomaker said.
Rodgers also threw away a pair of black shoes in a dumpster, Shomaker said. Next the former couple went to Rodgers' work and got his phone out of his locker. Rodgers put his phone in the drinking fountain then smashed it into pieces, Shomaker said.
Rodgers told Shomaker to get in the car. "I was nervous," Shomaker said. On the car ride home, Rodgers had Shomaker throw pieces of the phone out the window.

The first time the detectives went to JRR's and after they left Taylor said he grabbed the business card they left and got rid of it. She never saw the card again. He then right away took the shoes to the dumpster.

Later, while in bed Shomaker confronted Rodgers and told him she knew he had something to do with the murder, Shomaker said. Shomaker asked Rodgers how many times he shot Teresa Sievers and what kind of gun he used, Shomaker said.

State has carefully avoided all of the potential hearsay evidence in connection to Shomaker and the admission by Jimmy Rodgers on trial.
