Def not drugs. That would surprise me, but sex - perhaps. Perhaps someone she knows may have suggested a quick way to make cash. I say this because of the the way she was seen on camera approaching the black SUV.

There is no moral judgment from me, only concern for those woman who do engage in this industry. I fear for their safety always.
I agree. I don't think she was making a drug deal, but am thinking either sex work or she thought she was going on a date. imo

Having looked at the website I’m still none the wiser what her role might have been or who likely users of the service are? Vague
IMO
The deeper I look, the more I lean towards Da'Cara having met her murderer through the Maryland Service Year Option.

"One of the centerpieces of his administration is the newly established Department of Service and Civic Innovation, which includes a public service program with two arms, the Service Year Option, for Maryland residents within three years of high school graduation, and Maryland Corps, which is open to a range of applicants.
...

I’d like to think he’s right. The goal of Maryland Corps and Service Year is to strengthen community ties, motivate and train Maryland residents and better equip them for their futures.

Maryland Corps, similar in many ways to the federal AmeriCorps program, removes barriers to the sorts of people who tend to get shut out. Crucially, it also welcomes noncitizens who have working papers and people with criminal records who often find it difficult to get into other programs. Providing this kind of access was “a prerequisite,” Moore told me."

Were his roommates that heard the unsatisfying sex not think to intervene? Were they scared of him?
They were his cousins. They probably didn't care.

I think one look at this guy, without getting into his car, would be enough for her to return to her car ... unless she thought she was providing some sort of community service.

I agree that she wouldn't like the looks of him. But it was likely dark and she might not have seen him until she was in the car and he took off. Speculation.

Why would she leave her purse in her car? She might have willingly gotten into his car, but perhaps not willingly left in his car.
Apologies, I might be a bit off topic but I just got here..

A lot of younger people don't carry purses anymore. They just carry their phone/smartwatch/whatever and tap it to pay using Apple Pay or GPay.

I have my purse in the glove box of my car. It contains bank cards, IDs and a small amount of emergency cash. I think the last time I actually brought it into a shop or somewhere with me, was around 4 years ago when I broke my phone 😂

That’s what I wondered also!! A missed opportunity to save a life. But who would think that was actually what was occurring?

Or she was lured in some way. Her service work indicates to me that she would have tried to be helpful. So, he gave her a pitiful song and dance. "His ex didn't show up. He was just thinking about ending it all. He just needed someone to talk to, to understand," etc. . . . could have been anything.

She bought into it, sincerely thinking she was going to do something helpful. He, on the other hand, thought any woman who would come home with him was agreeable for sex. So, when she wasn't, he raped her, then felt he had to kill her?

Her soft heart and goodness had no experience with someone like him?

If they arrived to the home around 3:47 like docs say.. I would say he pulled off pretty quick. Now those hours in the home or what happened between then and 5...
She had injuries to her skull and facial fractures. It's not uncommon for murderers to hit a woman hard in the head to disorient them.

Since she went directly to his bedroom, the first injury may have been before she arrived at his house. I'm guessing she was assaulted between the time of arrival (3:47 AM) until she was murdered (5:03 AM). Maybe she was unconscious at first, and the noise heard by his cousin was as she was becoming conscious. He deactivated her phone at 5:03 AM, probably coinciding with her murder. Then he took her out of the house and tried to hide her body.

trying to connect the dots of how she knew her murderer *

That's what I'm thinking - that she was trying to do a good deed. He has addiction issues, and perhaps she was trying to help. That would also explain a long talk before she ended up at his house. At age 19, she's no match for a 35 year old man like that.

I find it hard to believe she was doing volunteer work in a parking lot at that time of the night. Regardless of the reason she was with the suspect, it is sickening that once again a woman loses her life for no reason other than a man can't control himself imo.

Well, we don't know what he looks like when he's smiling and pretending to be a good person. No one looks attractive in their mugshot.

This stuck out to me too -- I really hope they meant it like "it sounded like he wasn't doing a good job pleasing her" not "it sounded like he was raping her and we didn't do anything about it" 😬

The Video- That video of her walking away toward the mailbox and locking her car- she is directly across the street from a Fire Station with the doors pulled down. There is one at 7800 Riggs
Also the video is shaky- why? That can’t be a camera bolted to a building- CCTV or Ring camera.
I think it is someone holding a cell phone watching her, or a phone video of the CCTV off of a computer screen? Weird

I’m wondering if he was an addict and needed a fix to get him through, and maybe she found someone with what he needed? Did she know him and purchased drugs for him?

He may have subdued her once she was in his car, hit her hard.

So tragic, it sounds like she may have been trying to help someone.
Also agree consistent with a drug deal.
Also agree consistent with sex work, not odd to leave purse- kids carry phone plastic cash and key fob.

Why did it take so long to identify her body? I can’t figure this out- did he cover her with a chemical that destroyed her appearance and maybe made DNA ID difficult? Seems odd to me

Also have seen discussion of two other woman missing
In Texas missing cases often victims are small- 5’2” and around 100 lbs or less- DeCara fits this.
What are the sizes of the other two African American young women who are missing from the same area of MD? Nancy Grace does not even give their names?? Why?

Nancy Grace- DeCara Thompson and 2 other missing women in area of Prince George County, MD within 10 days of each other

Two women of color go missing in PG County, MD
43 yr old Erica Perry missing in Hyattsville was found?
37 yr old Santia Desir was found

IMO

At that hour? And alone? Not a safe thing for a woman to do. IF she were considering trying to help a person like that, it would be best to do it online, over the phone, or during daylight hours in a very public place. Like a Starbucks.

Personally I don't think there's any strong reason to think these three women are connected. Their ages aren't that close, they don't look similar, they disappeared in different ways, and they were found/recovered in different circumstances. Yes, they are all Black women, but 60% of Prince George's County is Black so that's not really unusual for the area.

Adding her parents would have known that detail - her Dad has never mentioned that kind if volunteer work. In fact, her parents were confused about why she was in that location. They don’t know anyone, and said she didn’t either.

I’m not so patiently waiting for more details to be released, before speculating any further.

Agree, but I was bullet proof and immortal at 19, maybe she was too

Is there any evidence, or claims from anyone, that this 19 year old woman was involved with illegal drugs or sex work?

From everything I've read, she was selected as a candidate for the Maryland Service Year Option - which sounds like an achievement based on good character with a promising future.

We know that the murderer had a rotten character and that he is a criminal, but why would we think that his victim must also be a criminal with involvement in illegal drugs?

Or unless she had met him through her volunteering role and had grown to know and like him. I bet he wore a very different face in public to the one Dacara witnessed in the last hours of her life. Jmo.
