She’s also a teenager and I know when I was a teen I didn’t even really think about if I was parking illegally or not, I just parked however was convenient for me
A bit off topic, but these localities with rampant illegal parking need to start writing tickets. That's revenue for the city! :)

I find it strange she would park that way if she knew she was going to be spending time 30 miles away. I can see parking like that if she expected to return quickly, planned to be nearby, and/or she was inebriated.

I’m sorry but parking on the wrong side of the street is not common in this area. Parking in front of a hydrant, yes, but most of the time if someone parks on the wrong side of the street, they are hopping out really quick and will brb.

As soon as someone has a driver's licence, they have to play by the rules. Insurance rates for young drivers are typically significantly higher than rates for mature adults. Any infraction can result in higher insurance rates. They know that and don't take chances - especially if they are so poor that they resort to drug dealing and sex work to earn a living.

I see lots of reasons to ignore the illegally parked vehicle, but, in my opinion, it matters and tells us something about what she was thinking when she parked illegally.

Exactly - which is why it is unusual that she parked like that and then walked 6-7 minutes to meet the suspect, who was parked in a nearby parking lot.

Did he specifically tell her to meet him there, and did he watch her park to ensure that she was alone? Did he then park a little father away and watch her walk to the parking lot where she met him? Did he want to separate her from her car so she couldn't use the keys to set off the alarm?

There's something off about how and where she parked, and where he was parked. It seems calculated.

Except that I had a drivers license and did not think about all of that, just like a lot of teens. I see people parked on the wrong side of the street all the time, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the drivers aren’t always teens. Getting a drivers license doesn’t automatically wire someone’s brain into parking legally or following any other rule.

Absolutely

It’s like they were at the club and agreed to meet at family dollar across the street yet she parks out of sight and probably in a hurry to then go back to meet him there. Maybe then he suggested to drive her back to her car, and didn’t.

Per this link, DaCara illegally parked her vehicle and was seen in surveillance video leaving that white SUV at 3:06 AM. At 3:47 AM she arrived at the suspect's home.

The walking distance/time from her vehicle to the suspect's vehicle is roughly 6-7 minutes. The distance/driving time from his vehicle to his house is roughly 33 minutes.

3:06 AM - DaCara steps out of her illegaly parked SUV
3:12 AM (6 minutes later) - DaCara arrives at his vehicle
3:47 AM (35 minutes later) - DaCara and suspect arrive at his house
5:00 AM cousin hears grunting noises from suspect's bedroom, assumes it is unwanted sexual activity

Paying car insurance and knowing that any infraction can increase that cost re-wires the brain.

Parking in front of a fire hydrant is the bigger issue. That's where she parked facing the wrong direction. She did both. She didn't just park facing the wrong direction.

Do you have a link? Isn't Jasmine Terrace the name of a road?

My understanding is that she texted her father at midnight. The next time we have is when she parked her car at the corner of Jasmine Terrace Road and Riggs Road at 3:06 AM.

It is a road. I'm not OP but my question is about the TIME. When did she park there? I've heard two different times and am unclear which one is correct.

That's my question too!

I'm trying to figure out if she got back into her car after parking at jasmine terrace then drove to the family dollar or is there a 1 and half hour time gap or was the first timestamp mistaken

I like a timeline now I'm confused 😕

Someone mentioned if DaCara was doing a good deed as part of her voluntary work , I didn't think of this angle but was she part of a community outreach group for depressed or suicidal individuals ,even if she was the protocol is to encourage the client to call the services or just listen on a dedicated phone-in

According to the court documents, detectives had recovered surveillance footage from August 23, from 3:06 a.m., showing her leaving her white SUV and walking from Jasmine Terrace down Riggs Road toward University Boulevard in Hyattsville.

Is there a place between her car and the Family Dollar that would be open for a late-night snack or meal? Could she have spent time there between 1:30-3:00am?

DaCara Rose Thompson
Age: 19
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 105 lbs
Hair: Brown, long
Eyes: Brown
Marks: Tattoos on her right side and left arm
Wearing: Dark jacket and jeans, nose ring

DaCara Rose Thomson's parents reported her missing to Prince George's County, MD Police Dept on August 22, 2025. I'm summarizing information found in the linked articles and videos. Each one has the same basic facts, but there is also something a little bit different in each of them.

She lives with her father in Lanham, MD.

At about 10:00 pm on Friday, August 22, she told her dad "I'm going out. I'll be back."

At 11:50 pm her dad sent her a text, telling her he was going to bed. She sent a return text saying she was got gas and would return soon.

She was seen on video at a Shell gas station in Lanham, located at the Eastgate Shopping Center, getting gas for her 2013 pearl white Ford Edge.

She is the youngest of 5 siblings. The family shares locations through the Find My Phone App, and her mom found that her last location was near the intersection of Jasmine Terrace and Riggs Rd in Hyattsville, about 9-miles from her home.

Her father found her car in the 1800 block of Jasmine Terrace, parked illegally on the wrong side of the street in front of a hydrant. Her purse was in the car, along with her driver's license, bank cards, house keys, and $60 cash. Her phone and key fob were missing and the phone has been disabled. Her father called the police. The police didn't search the car; they told her dad to take it home, because if it was left there it would be towed. They said she would have to call police when she returned and the car wasn't there.

DaCara was seen on a neighborhood surveillance video at 1:30 am, parking the car where it was found in the 1800 block of Jasmine Terrace, then walking down the street in the direction of Riggs Rd.

Her mom sat in a car at that location for two days, hoping that DaCara would return, looking for her car.

Her mom says that DaCara is an introvert and doesn't have a large group of friends. It is not like her to be out of touch with her family.

Her family has been searching, putting up posters, and spreading the word on social media. They are grateful for all of the community support they have been receiving. Prince George's detectives continue to investigate.

The family is holding a vigil on Sunday, August 31, 5:30 pm, at Jasmine Terrace and Riggs Rd in Hyattsville. They are asking attendees to wear pink.

Oh! I thought the club was further away. I"m all turned around and haven't even left my chair, lol.

If the club is within walking distance, that's likely where she went.

Having looked at the website I’m still none the wiser what her role might have been or who likely users of the service are? Vague
IMO
I sincerely hope that whatever her volunteering role was it didn't involve a young girl having to meet with people at 3.06am as this put her in the way of danger and if so they need to rethink their programme

I don’t under stand how her mom found her vehicle by her phone when her phone was not there.
Did her mom not see the phone was at kembridge rd? Evidently LE knows it was there at 5:03.
