BALTIMORE — Authorities in Maryland say a homicide victim has been identified as an 18-year-old girl who was reported missing.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said in a news release Sunday that is working jointly with Baltimore police on investigating Danielle Valerie Gunson’s death.

The news release says both departments responded to a call Thursday morning about a deceased female in part of Baltimore that borders the county. Officers found an unidentified female who had suffered trauma to her torso. That night, Anne Arundel County Police took a missing persons report for Gunson, who lived in Owings.

Police say the victim was identified as Gunson on Friday.

The news release gave no suspect description or possible motive but said police believe it was a “targeted attack.”

Anyone with information is asked to call authorities.

It appears she was seen with a Terry Caurso. Then her family reported her missing early Thurs morning and her body was found later that morning. Thursday afternoon Terry was found and hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to family, she was last seen at 2:30 am on Thursday in Crofton with an acquaintance, Terry Caruso, also of Crofton.

On Thursday, afternoon, Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to a power line access area off of Johns Hopkins Road in Gambrills for an injured subject. Upon arrival officers located Terry Caruso who had been seriously assaulted. Caruso was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in serious condition. Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to call the Western District Detective Unit at 410-222-6155.

Update that Terry was shot:
While receiving treatment at the hospital it was determined the victims injuries were due to a gunshot. The wounds were to his upper and lower body and he is expected to survive his injuries. Detectives are still actively investigating this case and believe this to be a targeted incident.

Terry's Facebook: Terry Caruso Looks like he is involved in drugs so my guess is this was a robbery or payback and Daniella got stuck in the middle. No better PD than the Baltimore PD to crack it, I suppose.

Homicide detectives were able to link Gunson's murder to the attempted murder of Terence Caruso Jr., who was found shot in the area of Johns Hopkins Road in Gambrills on the same day Gunson's body was discovered. Caruso was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

Gunson, Caruso and Liam Cameron Penn, 25, of Woodstock, were together in the early morning hours of Sept. 27. Penn pulled his car off the roadway in the area of Saint Stephens Church Road and Johns Hopkins Road and shot Caruso and Gunson. Penn left Caruso at the scene and transported Gunson's body into Baltimore City.

An arrest warrant for Penn was obtained by police Monday, charging him with the murder of Gunson and the attempted murder of Caruso. Penn was taken into custody without incident around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Calvert woman’s accused murderer set for April trial
