IMO the fact that LE stopped the van and put leg irons on him does not prove his state of health at that time. If LE wanted it to look like he was fighting them in the van, they would stop and put the leg irons on him to cover up that he was severely injured prior to that time.

Do we know who put the leg irons on him? Was it the van driver or did ither officers come to help?

Davis did not release the time for each of these stops, but police have already said that at 8:46 a.m., the driver of the van reported that he believes Gray is acting “irate.” An officer asks the van to stop so paperwork could be completed, according to Baltimore police. At that point, Gray is taken out of the vehicle, and police said he was placed in leg irons and then put back in the van. Police have not specified when this occurred in relation to the van’s various stops.

Last week, Davis said there were three stops: the first to put leg irons on Gray, the second “to deal with Mr. Gray” (an incident, he said, that remained under investigation) and the third to pick up a prisoner in an unrelated matter.

The new stop, which “was discovered from a privately owned camera,” Davis said Thursday, came between the first and second stops.

Fox News saying multiple high ranking Balt-more LE saying the Mayor gave clear & direct orders to "stand down" on the first night of major protests.

Moo
I'm not at all surprised to hear this, it was very apparent to me that this was the situation during the burning and looting as well as the retreating of the officers. What a shame.

Well I guess we now know which officer did not submit a statement. That plus the unannounced and unreported stop really is looking bad.

Maybe the leg shackles were put on after Freddy was incapacitated to shore up the story about hearing the banging from the back.

IMO, the driver stopped, realized how bad he had injured Freddy and put on the shackles to make it look like Freddy was out of control.

That doesn't jive with the other perp in the van.

The other perp might have been "convinced" to go along with the story lest he receive the same.....just thinking.

But we have no idea if the other guy is telling the truth or not. Guess we may hear more about this other guy down the road.

Here's another avenue of thought. A lot of FG's arrests were for heroin. Ok - was he high when arrested? And, if so, on what? We all know some drugs give people "superhuman" strength....................run with that for a few. If he wasn't - well then what are the effects of long term heroin use on the bones? Could that be a factor?

I understand they are still waiting for tox tests - is that right?

Heroin would definitely not give you super human strength. If anything it would have the opposite effect. It's definitely on the "downer" end of the spectrum of drugs. That being said, it would do a damn good job of numbing pain from an injury.

I knew that - I was referring to PCP or others.

As for this new info - IDK and I think we will never know what exactly happened. I do think tonight is going to be ugly though.

My understanding of the new timeline is that the shackles was the first stop, then the unknown stop, then the third stop for paperwork or something, then a stop to pick up the other prisoner. If they put the shackles on to cover up the head injury then the head injury would have been during the shackle stop or when they initially stuck him in the van. I am wondering if maybe he was being loud and they shackled him and then he continued to be loud so the driver made that unreported stop and went to the back of the van himself to check out Mr. Gray.

A statement from the second prisoner has only been provided by LE, speaking on his behalf. Have not read any statement directly attributed to this second prisoner. Is there a link to a statement from this prisoner - rather than LE?

I don't know.

I am watching CNN and they just showed a little clip of officers putting the shackles on and it was bike cops because they had on the bike helmet. I haven't seen that video before...off to go find it.

Second man in police transport van speaks out
Donte Allen describes what he heard in van transporting Freddie Gray

Allen described what he heard: "When I got in the van, I didn't hear nothing. It was a smooth ride. We went straight to the police station. All I heard was a little banging for about four seconds. I just heard little banging, just little banging."

Asked whether he told police whether he heard Gray banging his head against the van, Allen said, "I told homicide that. I don't work for the police. I did not tell the police nothing."

According to the autopsy on Gray, there is no evidence that Gray hit his head against anything on his own. His fatal neck and spinal injury was a kin to the type suffered in a car accident; it needed that amount of force and energy.

Sources have told the 11 News I-Team that by the time Allen was loaded into the van, Gray was unresponsive. Citiwatch camera video shows officers looking into the Gray's side of the van with the doors fully open.

According to timelines I have read, the leg shackles were put on at Mount and Baker Streets, approximately 1 block from the intersection where the initial arrest was made.

I think its possible that the action of applying leg shackles was planned at the same time they first put him in the van and they chose to do it a block away so as to try to do it out of view of and to avoid the neighborhood crowd that the initial arrest attracted.

Therefore, the bicycle police just followed along for one short block to help with the procedure.

I was just going to post this. Where did they get the autopsy report from? Earlier, when the other stuff came out about the head injury, the ME said he hasn't finished his written report...ME does the autopsy, right? Or is that someone else?
