the mind set that police misconduct is widespread

it is widespread

this is only the tip of the iceberg - and society is slowly seeing first hand how widesperead, blatent, and frequent it is occuring. Since Ferguson, about every 72 hours, a new video comes out showing such.

I believe something is widespread but I'm not sure it's police misconduct.

a knife a switchblade. I really want to know more about the basis for the determination that this was an illegal arrest, apparently based on some technical definition of switchblade. I can't find any specific description other than that in the police report where it was described as spring loaded. Is Mosby saying it wasn't spring loaded? Or that for some other reason it didn't meet the technical definition? Has anyone seen an actual description of the knife?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean here? There are knives that made that open without an automatic spring, both spring assisted, and gravity knives. Spring assisted is what FG was carrying.

It is interesting to see how the law is being applied differently based on the different demographics of protesters. Tonight's protest at city hall seemed to consist mainly of professional protesters, occupy wall street types etc. Notice the police did not hesitate to move in and make arrests almost at the stroke of 10:00PM. From what I saw most of those arrested were white. Big difference from the previous two nights where police used a kid-glove approach to protesters violating the curfew at Penn/North.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that point.

And don't forget that FG had it concealed which does matter in determining the legality of weapons arrest in this particular case. Very important.

I don't think anyone is questioning that FG was/is a victim.

I do think there is some questioning going on here. I am happy you feel like there is not questioning happening. Might help my perspective.

I see your point about Mosby being activist on some levels. I do think she ran on police misconduct as an issue. I believe there have been misconduct issue over time. I am more than willing to look at the way she interprets her role. I don't think I am as amenable about questioning her ethics. (Not that you are implying anything about her ethics or expertise.) I won't presume what she assumes.

Girl on CNN is claiming the police were beating them all up. Claims they have every right to be outside past curfew because it is not fair to have one. I am watching CNN and didn't see anyone getting beat up, just being arrested. She also said people had to use bread as pillows in jail...

LE made it very clear that the rules had changed tonight. They corralled press into an area. Today was approached differently by LEO.

Does she not know what civil disobedience means? Willingness to break the law peacefully and be arrested if necessary.

Oh oh! An "F" bomb was just dropped on CNN LOL

Ohhh

BUT it isn't in the police report now is it

Must have left that out

Balt Officer claiming that tox report tested positive for heroin & weed

Isn't this officer acting as a lone wolf? Imo, this will hurt Baltimore LE credibility even more.

There has definitely been speculation that he swallowed whatever he was carrying since he has a history of dealing.

Whether or not an apparent drug sale was in progress remains to be seen. I don't think we can really know many facts at this point as very little has been officially released. What I find interesting about the info by these "anonymous " cops is why bother going on air and lie? Much of what they are saying, if true, will either come out at trial, or it won't. I can't see why they would lie? It certainly isn't for their 15 minutes as that doesn't work too well when the person is anonymous !! LOL

Cariis.....drugs in a person system will cause their behavior to become erratic, especially under stressful events. Especially if one ingests the drugs to hide the evidence.
I am not stating that this is the case with FG because we haven't seen the tox or autopsy results yet.

Many things are widespread, and imo police misconduct is one of them - everywhere. There is a reason the US President has to step down after 8 years in office. Maybe cops should be rotated on a regular basis, like bank employees.
