I hate this for her, her family and community.

The quarry where she was found is probably the one to the upper left, off Covington Rd. From StreetView it does not look very well protected, AFAICT.
I didn’t see it the first time I looked at map.:(

I know there is some water in the area. This is terrible news. :(

I pictured her following the sun, which was westward at the time she went missing, then the darned 'ol sun left her in the darkness somewhere in the woods between Covington and the residences on Turner. Incredible she made it to that quarry without being spotted by a motorist or a member of the search party. : (

I looked at that last night after seeing the post on facebook, but thought it's so far away- surely she would be found before reaching that area

ETA - Google says it's only .09 miles to the area she could access the Quarry

My thoughts are with Maddelynn's family, I'm heartbroken for them.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. It must have been nightfall by the time she reached the quarry and, not being able to see, simply fell in. But with autism, I suppose even with daylight she might not have known the danger. In any case, may the Divine rest her gentle soul.

Though the clouds have closed in on her ray of sunshine for us down below, her light still shines far beyond the clouds. Peace.

I don't know if this is permissable, but I'm going to dedicate my favorite Rick Nelson song to MW.

You're free now, little one...

The presumed body of a missing 10-year-old girl was found in a quarry Sunday in Waldorf, the Charles County Sheriff's Office said.

Maddelynn Wallace, who was autistic and nonverbal, was last seen Saturday on Turner Drive in the Malcolm area, officials said Saturday evening.

After a search involving multiple agencies, the sheriff's office said Sunday around noon that a body had been found in a "deep quarry" in the area she went missing.

Maddie's obit is online which I'm posting here to all sympathetic parties for the sake of closure. I signed the guestbook and mistakenly addressed her mother by the wrong name. I just wanted to crawl under the bed but there's too much stuff under there. So I manned up and signed the guestbook again addressing her properly.

Maddie would have turned 11 next week. I wish the Wallaces all the love and peace in the world.
