Last night on WS, the mom said that Ayla's dad decided to take Ayla while mom was in rehab. If there isn't a custody agreement, I think he can do that without a lot of fuss. Right?

ETA: She said the dad had no interest in Ayla until now, IIRC.

Without going back to find the links, but I know they're in the thread . . .

IIRC: Ayla's mother told Ayla's father that he could have Ayla while in Rehab as long as he was living with his mother in Waterville. He moved there about 6 wks ago (per a neighbor) from Portland.

IIRC: Ayla's mother's mother indicated CFS took the child because they have a grudge against the family. (If that is the case, why is Ayla's mother's other baby at the house?)

It appears to me reading articles & comments that Ayla's father did have visits with her prior to retaining custody of her -- wonder how many/often?

I cannot hep but wander if there is a Casey effect with all these cases, that is, since Casey got off we have had at least 2 high profile missing baby cases in just 6 months whereas I cannot remember before that when I heard of a baby going missing in the night. What are the chances, 2 babies same story in just a few months!

Did the Casey case educate people on reasonable doubt (the wrong way unfortunately as Pinellas 12 applied the wrong standard) so that people think that they can hide a baby somewhere and there will always be reasonable doubt? The Casey case tells people that even if you hide a dead baby there is still reasonable doubt because it "could have been" an accident, even if the mother goes out partying, etc. bc lying and hiding a body is not enough to show murder. People hide bodies when there are accidents too, it is believed.

Even in this case and Lisa's case, suppose God forbid, they find the children harmed, the perpetuators could still try to get off w the Casey defense. Hopefully they would get a good jury but if they got people like Casey's how would they ever show it was not an accident (especially if there is not a preserved body) since apparently some juries think hiding a body is not enough to show murder

And if they never find the child they WILL get off!

Aliayah and Sky fit this same "MO" too, as does Bianca, more or less, making at least 5 babies currently missing from a parent's care...no movement on any of these cases...

Respectfully & IMHO - I wish comparisons to the No Justice for Caylee situation would disappear. Sorry, but I am so over it & have move on (can't you tell, I don't even mention "her name"). The scales of justice are not always balanced, but I believe in Karma.

The rash of missing children is just CRAZY -- end of days (again, IMHO)

Each case is different as each person involved is unique. But sleuthing techniques remain the same. What in the world did we do prior to social media?

I think the main thing these parents learned from that case is to find a better hiding place.

IMO, I think the "repercussions" from the "injustice" of the verdict will be around for a while ... So sad ... but true ...

After reading throught the pages about Ayla I have a couple of thoughts.

There are sperm and/or egg donors out in the world that really want nothing to do with their child unless it would hurt the other parent. I know from personal experience that there are times when the "parent" that has no interest in the child is vindictive enough to go for custody or will just take off with the child to spite the parent that actually loves and cares for the child. IMO this is beginning to sound like the case here.

Concerning the drug usage of mom in this case, would someone that has a grudge against her really go to another town and take the daughter when the younger son is right there in the same town as mom? I am big on what the odds are and I find this to be far out there. I see nothing that points to mom at all in this case. I see nothing that points to any past drug connections on moms side in this case.

I do see a father that does not care enough to even make one plea for the safe return of his daughter.

Came in a little late, and I can hardly hear the questions.

Chief (?) keeps reiterating that nothing has changed since yesterday, everything is on the table & nothing has been discounted, and they're still treating this as a missing-child case.

I think that he's not going to discuss "any aspect of the case as it relates to the house, who's inside the house." This includes, I think, alibis and if there was another child sleeping in the same room with Ayla.

I went into this thinking dad wanted Alya, hid her with friends. But the more that comes out the more i worry about whom those friends are.

I'd love to know who was in that house Friday night.

It seems like this LE is doing everything they can to not alienate the parents.
I've heard him say several times, almost with emphasis, that they are cooperating.
