Just a misc. thought, but if this sweet child is now living with her father in a home with a yard, it's likely she is playing outside more often than when she was staying in a hotel room. Hence some of the bruises? Additionally, dads tend to wrestle and play (yes, just play) with kids router than moms do...

I am not yet sure how I feel about the father's involvement, but the accusations re: bruising since being in his care do not set off alarm bells for me.

Of course, jmo!

Children do get bruised and even sustain broken bones from normal playing, and I wouldn't normally suspect abuse. I guess it depends on whether you believe the mother is being truthful. To me, she seems genuinely devastated, and that makes me tend to believe her. So the bruising and broken arm do set off alarm bells for me because these accusations are made in a situation where a toddler disappears from a house full of people with another baby in the same room and nobody heard a peep from either child. All MOO.

I wish there was clarification/confirmation on the text message allegedly sent re: worrying about someone taking the child...from Dad to Mom, is what I read upthread. If he really sent this prior to Friday, that is certainly very odd. Why would he think someone would take his child? Had someone paid her unusual attention? Did he think Mom might take her? Or was he planning ahead for an alibi of sorts?

I wonder if he thought she might be taken by Child protective Sevices, due to possible abuse? That could explain why he wouldnt take her to her
doctor as well, if she had some additional evidence of abuse.

This case is so convoluted, maybe there is a chance this baby is alive somewhere...and I almost never feel that. But what I don't understand is how anyone thinks it is a good, longterm solution to "hide" a child during custody issues, as if that is going to help one's case later on...if that is what is happening here.

That's about par for the course in my experience with a good friend. They basically stabilized my friend and then set him up with outpatient community resources and groups/sober living homes, etc.

Cluciano: I heard Mike Brooks say what he said about the texts from Dad to mom on HLN last night and it stopped there. No one furthered the discussion with him about this claim. He said that the dad sent the mom texts about him being paranoid that someone was going to abduct Ayla. I have no idea where this originates from. I would think this is something that would be easily verified by police. I think PattyG taped some of the shows so we can go back and check.

I recall reading somewhere that at least one neighbor had never Ayla, only the other child who lived there...so wondering if she was ever outdoors much at all?

Has there been anything reported about the layout of the home and where the baby's room was located? I saw some comments about an attic bedroom, but I can't seem to find that information in any of the news reports.

it may not be a matter of mom being untruthful but a matter of her looking for a reason behind her daughter being missing. perhaps thinking back along with her child missing the fact her daughter had/has bruises could be alarming her. they might just be innocent along with the broken arm. my granddaughter broke her foot while sliding down a sliding board. someone could make something of that but they're kids, stuff happens. but i could also see if my granddaughter was missing soon afterwards because of already being afraid and looking for answers it would make me question it.

I'm a bit curious as well about the layout of the home and where the baby's bed was located. I also want to know where the stairs are located in the home and how many people were living and sleeping in the home that night and where in proximity of the stairs? How difficult was it for someone to somehow get into a house full of people and go up to an attic bedroom and snatch the very same child that is the center of a custody battle to come?

This scenario is the most popular one around these days. It's like seeing last summer's reruns. But, this story appears to be working out for the "child abductor" in almost every case! Imagine that? What we have here is a "repeat performance", just different players with different names. Looks like with all the little children and babies being "stolen" right out of their beds that someone would actually "lock the dang door", don't you think? And, maybe, just maybe, check on the little children and babies once in a while just to make sure they are still in bed.

IMO, this disappearance is just too dang convenient and smells like a Haleigh Cummings/Lisa Irwin copy cat. Stinks to high heaven.

Search Intensifies for Missing Maine Girl Ayla Reynolds
--snipped--

--article & video @ link--

--from the video.

--reporter: state police have told us that there were 2 other adults in the home friday night that are non family members.

--also--FWIW---nancy grace was referring to the silver hyundai that was towed the other day as "daddy's girlfriend's car" ( i wasn't aware we knew who that vehicle belonged to..)

I didn't know about a girlfriend, only a "mytery woman's" car was taken.

I hope and pray they will find her alive today. 1 day missing is 1 day too long. Five days missing and she could be anywhere.

I hope this is a family abduction and the family member is caught with Ayla alive and well. This baby needs to be home with her family for Christmas.

As the father of a missing child, I would EXPECT him to make accusations of who he feels is responsible so that police can follow up on his suspicions. The bolded part could take a very long time, IMO. The way he has worded this makes me think he is NOT being cooperative with police.

I would expect him to make accusations as well...to LE...not to the media. If someone does in fact have this child, the father must tread very carefully lest he anger or panic the person who took the babe.

I have been watching this thread like a hawk since day 1 of this darling little cherub going missing, but have been so hesitant to climb in. It so often reminds me of sweet baby Caylee and adorable baby Lisa.... But I DO so want this young child to be found ALIVE and well and thriving! Please God watch over our young children....

DiPietro wrote the statement, gave it to Waterville Police, who handed it to a Morning Sentinel reporter, said Stephen McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety.

For those wondering. To me, the statement never sounded like lawyer speak, just an articulate person that was writing.

I would like to know more about daddy's girlfriend, if it is true that he had one. Would she be angry that her bf had to move away from her and move in with his mom because of his baby? Was she perhaps jealous of little Ayla?
