Nearly 1 year since New Sweden child reported missing
NEW SWEDEN -- It’s been almost a year since a teenager in Aroostook County disappeared.
Recent interview with Stefanie’s parents:

Inside the Damron Family’s Search for Stefanie
Damron's parents say the authorities have been 'great' in trying to find their daughter. However, they say they would like for them to share more information with them.www.wabi.tv
My recollection is fuzzy, but I think I recall that the kids did not have personal electronics, so I’m not sure how catfishing could have taken place, moo. If they used their parents’ devices, maybe…? But the parents were away when Stefanie walked off into the woods. I’d assume they would have had their devices on them. Was there something to support a catfish gone wrong? I don’t remember any actual evidence found

I believe Stefanie and her older sister were with the grandfather/family friend when she disappeared, on the heels of an argument with her sister. Maybe her father thinks that she could have used his (gf/ff’s) device to reach out to an online acquaintance after the argument, and that’s what her father is referring to as catfishing? Reportedly, her sister and grandfather/ff heard a car on the main road shortly after Stefanie walked off. All iirc and moo.
Another article stated the remains were located as part of a missing persons investigation. That missing person was presrumed to be an elderly gentleman that went missing back in June from Clinton (William M. Parent, he has a thread here). This is probably unrelated as 3 hrs distance from New Sweden.
Praying for this family anyway

So the parents didn't live in the yurt and possibly didn't see Stefanie and her older sister every day?
Paraphrasing, and according to the article, Stefanie and her older sister lived in a yurt with an 80 year old man a family friend known to the girls as 'grandpa'.
This was probably mentioned very early on ... but I seem to have missed it ?
The parents lived in a trailer down the road with four younger kids.
LE have uncovered inconsistencies in the parents' story.
I still fear there was foul play.
Omo.
Poor Stefanie !
At the time of her disappearance, Stefanie and her sister S, 18, were living in the yurt with RT, an 80-year-old family friend known to the girls as 'Grandpa', while their parents CDD, 48, and LMD, 47, lived a mile down the road in a trailer with their four younger children.
'People who think this all started with Stefanie's disappearance have it all wrong,' neighbor DT, 74, said.
'It was actually like watching a train wreck in slow motion from the time they got here.'
All the children had been homeschooled from a young age and have had little interaction with other family or friends outside their home.
'She wasn't like the rest of the kids who really bowed down to CDD. She didn't go along with the program, and I think she paid the price,' he said.
Neighbors claimed Stefanie's parents would come by once or twice a week to drop off supplies at the end of the long driveway but did not venture in to see the girls.
