GUILTY ME - Valerie Tieman, 34, Skowhegan, 30 Aug 2016

  • #241
I have lurked on here for years but never posted. I went to high school with Valerie in SC. We went to a small Christian school with only 42 people in our class. I haven't seen Valerie in many years but our class is very devastated. I wasn't close to her, and I didn't know Luc at all, but she was a precious girl and wildly talented. I cannot believe he did this to her and Mr. and Mrs. Harmon. I have followed Mr. Harmon's posts all the week before it hit the news and even checked on here and other sites. Luc never once posted about her being missing until it finally hit the news. That was the very first time he commented on Mr. Harmon's posts too. His mom never mentioned a missing daughter in law. Someone commented on Friends of Missing Valerie Tieman FB page that the Tiemans had a yardsale last Saturday. That joker even liked and shared that page. I hope sweet Valerie gets justice

The family friend I've been "talking to" says she wasn't buried. Sounds like he's definitely going with suicide. I don't know how he will account for those 5 days she was dead before the trip to Walmart.

Not sure what day it was .. but one of his random FB posts was a picture of a Paul Bunyan statue and referenced that he was going to be chopping wood. Just thought it was an odd post that now has my stomach churning.
Oh. I remember that. Someone posted a link of his screenshots...I have to go look!

Oh Kasey, thanks for posting about Valerie. I'm so sorry it is under such sad, sorrowful circumstances. Valerie deserved so much better than this.

Typical he accused her because he was having an affair.

Luc Tieman was angry.

In late August, a friend had told his wife, Valerie Tieman, that her husband was having an affair. The friend, Torie York of Waterville, says Luc Tieman had also been hitting on her while suggesting that he and his wife were thinking of divorcing.

He is one sick and twisted man. Some of his behavior is not unlike people I have known with PTSD. If he did have a head injury as he described, then he might be impaired depending on what part of the brain was impacted. No excuses but it is a reality that some vets live with and they don't kill people.

I have to hand it to the woman who set the boundary about his attempting to woo her and being forthright with Valerie. Unfortunately, the information may have cost Valerie her life because he wanted someone else.

I feel horrible for the friends who knew them. To all of a sudden realize that the monster you let in your house and served food to killed your good friend ---and you had no inkling that he was a monster--- must be tremendously painful.

I am glad we are hearing that he was smearing her all along. What a piece of trash.

It was mentioned earlier how secluded and isolated Valerie must have felt recently. I hadn't really given it a whole lot of thought until now, after reading the article doghairrules was kind enough to link above. My heart goes out to Valerie when I think of her relocating to move in with the in-laws and then recently finding out that her jacka$$ 🤬🤬🤬 husband was screwing around and hitting on other women behind her back. That must have been devastating to her, especially when she really had no one to confide in that we are aware of. Damn I feel so badly for her.

"Luc told me last night that it was a drug overdose. He said, ‘I don’t want to ruin her reputation.'"

Just as expected. It was all Valerie's fault ... NOT! What a complete loser ....

Yes. Wonder how he will explain throwing her body in the woods instead of calling 911.

I know I compared him to Wesley Hadsell earlier, but I am also getting a Jodi Arias vibe from him. All of the bad mouthing, like he is basically trying to convince people that she deserved it. It is probably how he avoids feeling guilt. He probably convinced himself of how "terrible" she was.

I am glad he is locked up. It makes you wonder about the people you know sometimes, how easily these individuals can hide because they have no empathy.

It looks like he is going for the accidental overdose explanation.

Even if the toxicology came back with drugs in her system, I would believe he is the one who did it to her. I do not believe she did it to herself (if, and it is a big if, it comes back as an overdose).

And immediately wooing another woman using the same exact language he used in talking to/about his wife. Yuck. I initially thought he could go with a diminished capacity defense but he knew exactly what he was doing.

Perhaps I was drawn to this case because Luc reminded me of someone I once trusted. The weird interview, the Facebook posts, the victim blaming. It was all familiar to me because I have been in Valerie's place but I was lucky enough to make it out alive. The women he was trying to get with described more familiar traits - his blaming his wife for everything, the love bombing (gifts, declarations of love, etc). These are common tactics with narcissistic abusers to hook their prey. That he moved Valerie to his parent's home and far from her own family is not surprising. Isolation = control for these types.

My heart really hurts for Valerie. She deserved a long, happy life with someone who truly loved her. I hope he suffers in prison for the rest of his miserable, selfish life.

Sorry but shame on the woman in the article mentioned above, you allowed him to "woo" her, and buy stuff for her kids. He was still a married man, she had no business giving him the time of day, or allowing him into her home and around her kids. So few people respect marriage these days. And it's incredibly creepy to me that she would have given him the time of day during the days when it was all out in the news that his wife was missing. Some women just have no class. But maybe I'm old fashioned because I don't care if a guy tells me he's "separated", to me that's still married. How cozy of his mother, sending her that message (the day he was arrested) to inform her that she'd be taking him for crising counselling. How chummy. His Mom clearly had no respect for his wife either. This guy is a total 🤬🤬🤬. This bit about the "overdose" does concern me tho. It probably wouldn't be all that difficult to slip something into someone's drink to sedate them then inject them with a lethal dose of heroin or whatever. If he did something like that how would they ever be able to prove that it was him that did it and not her?

I think he'd still have a lot of explaining to do. His timeline appears to be wrong, he didn't call for help and instead threw her body out in the woods. If he says he didn't know she was there, are we supposed to believe she left Walmart on foot, overdosed on something on the way home and then died in the woods before she made it to the house? I don't think he can spin that successfully.
