I sent an email to Fox this morning about Geraldo. I was shocked beyond belief. Maybe Ron isn't perfect, but it sure is obvious he loves and misses his Daughter. Besides Geraldo is getting his info from Haleigh's biological Mother who doesn't eve have custody of Haleigh and didn't even know she had Turners Syndrome. Haleigh's bio mom didn't know why her Daughter had missed so much school. I also remember Geraldo defending Casey. This guy needs to retire. I was beyond furious in the way Geraldo talked to Ron. I used to be able to stomach Geraldo, but not anymore. What a freak!! Poor Ron, just what he needed. If it had been me Geraldo would have been punched. :furious:

The Media can be VERY brutal..... and, I take what they say with a grain of salt unless it comes from the horse's mouth.....

Hi Websleuthers. I wonder what everyone's opinions are on the Geraldo interview and what effect it could have on this case in terms of future media coverage and the family.

While I believe the attack on Ronald was tasteless I found the info that Crystal shared very informative (although not verified). I wonder if Geraldo knew he had one shot to confront Ronald with the allegations and just "went for it" to get a visceral reaction... either way, I think we are already seeing a bit more cautionary media force after the fact and that concerns me.

What are your thoughts?

Geraldo was WAY outta line....

Crystal was WAY outta line too.... this is ABOUT HALEIGH!

I don't think it will make a difference on the "Case"

I think Geraldo has some B*LLS to have done what he did...and it was in very poor taste but having said that it did show some of the dynamics when it comes to Ron and Crystal's relationship. The statements she made should have been made to LE and not Geraldo for all the world to see, she is NOT the victim here it is her daughter Haliegh...FIND HALEIGH!!!!!

I agree it was out of line... I am not sure tho about Crystal being out of line. Any drug use brings it's own unsavory cast of characters that could have something to do with this. Her testimony was more than we have heard her say from day one and shed some light on Ronald (unfounded tho.... but her words). I do not think Ronald had anything to do with it but Crystal obviously thinks the man has enemies (while he states he has none).. and any "enemies" should be looked into (just my opinion tho

I have thought about this all throughout today..
If Misty is afraid to share something because she is afraid of Ron, this just might be the way for her to open up a little without that fear. She will then have people on her side, (Crystal's family) who all knew about the abuse (If this is at all true)
If Misty snapped, and killed Haleigh, and hid her body, I think it will show the motive. He was abusive, so either she had to do it to shut Haleigh up from ratting her out about leaving the house that night, or because she in some way felt she needed to show Ron that he wasn't the one in control all the time. What better way to get back at him than getting rid of his daughter? (The only female in his life that matters?)
Or, a stranger really could have come in and took this child, her be out there dead or alive somewhere, and thanks to Geraldo, the general public will turn their backs on the family and Haleigh.
I don't think it is a good situation either way you look at it.
He should have never went there.
Geraldo has been walking a thin line for years, and I do believe he will one day meet his match.
(That's a sign to stay away from South Georgia)

Pretty hard to say at this point, it's rather quiet on both sides today. I believe the No trespassing order issued against GR on that property, says it alot.

GR should not have done the questioning in the manor & the setting in which he did. It was gutsy, but it didnt help with the old wounds of the families. I think he should of done it differently or left it one sided and not interview Mr. Cummings...GR hit a beehive with a stick.

Will it effect the media coverage from this point forward?...Yes and I'm sure many news media outlets will be very delecate with RC & Family in the future. It has effected the emotions of others...which is pretty unfortunate. Personally, It was an eyebrow raiser into the dynamics of their past/present relationship.

It may just be coincidental but the Putnam LE has announced today it is not going to be doing pressers until further notice.

I certainly hope that the circus that GR created when he went down there and ended up getting himself issued a trespass violation is not the reason why LE has decided now not to speak with any media.

Might not be connected but it sure is coincidental to me. Just my two cents.

His latest tactics and antics crossed a line to me... He got info out of Crystal but his treatment of Ron was appalling and not in line with how a journalist should conduct himself. In order to be "fair and balanced" he should have interviewed Ronald and family in the same way that he did sans confrontation. Perhaps Ron would have had something to share about Crystal as well??? Now we will never know)

I know Geraldo is prone to the dramatics but I don't believe he is off the mark to insinuate that LE needs to look at Ron's inner circle of friends. Isn't there a saying in homicide (which I realize this is not) "before we look at the outlaws we need to look at the in laws". The answer and location of Haleigh's disappearance may very well be amongst Ron's friends, especially if he is involved in shady drug deals. By the way Ron seemed a little high or drunk during Geraldo's interview.

Yes, Geraldo was out of line the way he handled this. As for Crystal, it was not ALL about her, some of it was about Haleigh, Ron backhanding her and causing her to fall, as well as the injuries she supposedly received at school. I could be wrong, but I believe Crystal is setting the stage to initiate another custody hearing to try to get her son back, which she might have a better chance at winning now. I believe she was telling the truth, for what it's worth.

I believe it will affect the media coverage, but it will also make the public pay more attention as well. Misty has not been in the news recently, at least personally, and doesn't seem to be with Ron or his family. What is that all about?

I think now whether or not Geraldo was correct or incorrect in his approach to interviewing the two camps of the family may now be a moot point.

No more pressers until further notice. No media coverage can be done unless the same old information is rehashed.

ALL reporters are confrontational, it's how they work. Geraldo's tactics do not surprise me, and he always seems to be on one side or the other, never neutral.
Whatever Ron would have chosen to "share" with us, I don't think I would be inclined to believe him. Crystal has always been more believable to me, as well as her family, than Ron or his family, for some reason. She just seems more sincere to me. For a long time, she was very careful not to say anything negative, or even voice her thoughts, and I think Geraldo probably pressured her to say these things because he is "on her side" when in reality he just wants to take credit for a sensational story.
No one should be worrying about past conflicts, unless it directly relates to Haleigh's disappearance.

I saw some of the Fox news people touting what a great job Geraldo did in confronting Ron. Greg whathisname said Geraldo got run out by a bunch of trailer park people. I thought how condescending that sounded.

I don't know if it's GR's interview or just coincidental, but media coverage of this case has practically come to a halt. I'm sure I read somewhere on Saturday that there would be no pressers over the weekend, but they'd resume on Monday. Now, those pressers have stopped too.

It makes me wonder if after GR's interview, LE decided to stop further media coverage, at least until there's a break in the case.
