The news: He has filed for divorce from Misty Croslin-Cummings. She was baby-sitting Haleigh when the child disappeared. But Cummings later married Misty, who had been his girlfriend.

Grace's show airs at 8 o'clock on HLN.

We asked Ronald's attorney about the validity of a claim by an anonymous source that the paperwork was already filed as of 4:53 p.m. Monday. Beardsley said he was unaware of the paperwork being filed or executed at that time, but oviously there has been some discussion about what the next step should be in their relationship.

"The police have been telling me that I've been keeping Misty under my wing and that's why she hasn't talked to the cops," Ronald Cummings told a "Nancy Grace" producer Tuesday. "So now, here you go, I divorced her. So now go find my baby."

Shoemaker said his client told Misty Cummings he wanted a divorce on Sunday, and that the a divorce agreement was drawn up Monday. The agreement was sent to Misty Cummings' lawyer for her signature.

Cummings said that was just part of the reason for the divorce. "The two of us have agree to go separate ways," he said. "And if in the long run, something comes about Haleigh, then she can -- you know, it will be whatever, but I don't ... I still don't... "

"He really didn't come to us and say, 'I want to file for divorce,'" said another of Ronald Cummings' attorneys, Brandon Beardsley. "My understanding is that this is something that he and Misty have been discussing for the last few days and they're contemplating it because they ultimately feel that it is in the best interest for both of them."

On Monday, Misty Cummings left Satsuma to stay with a friend in Orlando, 50 miles south, Shoemaker said.

Police said 17-year-old Misty Cummings was a passenger in a car with a female friend, and the victim said the two made threats for about 10 miles. That's when, the victim said, it looked like the missing toddler's stepmother pulled out a gun.

"The passenger was flaunting something around, made it seem like she had a gun," the woman said. "That with the threatening, chasing me down, made me pretty scared."

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said a driver claimed that Cummings, a passenger in a blue Dodge Caliber with a female friend, kept gesturing and making threats on Interstate 4 and on Maitland Avenue at about 11:15 a.m.

When officers searched the car that Cummings was in, no gun was found and eventually she was and her friend were released.

Courtney Ballinger, 25, of Massachusetts, placed a 911 call about 11:15 a.m. to say she was being threatened by two women in a blue Dodge Caliber, a Seminole County sheriff's report states. The encounter ended at Lake Mary Boulevard, where the eastbound Dodge pulled off the highway.

A deputy arrived and handcuffed Donna Brock, 43, of Georgia, the driver of the Dodge, the report indicates. A Lake Mary police officer handcuffed Cummings, 17, the passenger, according to the report.

One day after Misty Croslin Cummings&#8217; husband of seven months publicly announced he was divorcing her, deputies pulled her from the car she was riding in, allegedly responding to an alert of a person with a handgun.

Cummings was a passenger in a car on Interstate 4 Wednesday morning, going to Palatka to see her attorney, Robert Fields of Dowda & Fields in Palatka.

&#8220;She endured some rough treatment. Seminole County (deputies) were fine. The other officers were fairly aggressive,&#8221; Fields said.

&#8220;I hope this isn&#8217;t a harbinger of things to come because of who she is.&#8221;

"Out of nowhere they just started honking at me and circling me hanging out of the window and threatening to beat me up, saying they're going to kill me," said the victim to the 911 operator.

Authorities stopped the car at a gas station where they conducted a "felony stop" because of the high-risk situation due to the report of a possible gun.

Both women were ordered out of the car at gunpoint and handcuffed, according to the Lake Mary Police Department.

Earlier this week, Ronald Cummings announced that he planned to file for divorce. His attorney told Action News the formal paperwork has not been signed, but it should be soon.
