I don't put Mignini on a pedestal. I don't say he is a nice and sweet man. I don't put up smiley pics of him on the internet. I don't care when his plane lands or whatever. Amanda Knox was convicted and sentenced to 3 years in jail. She destroyed the life and business of the man she falsely accused. It is disgusting how some people glorify this person.
She did, but he sued and she paid for that. She also will have to pay more due to the criminal fine..
And the glaring omission from what you are stating is the reason she said she implicated Lumumba and implicated herself at all. Knox stated that the police made suggestions to her based on various, crazy theories Mignini had. They apparently found a hair from a black man in the apartment, didn't like how Knox acted, saw she had sent her boss (Lumumba) a text message and created a theory of a satanic sex ritual turned murderous involving first Knox and Lumbada and then Sollecito, when they couldn't place him anywhere but with Knox that night.
According to Knox (and we will never hear what actually happened because the police conveniently erased ALL the tapes of the interrogation, stating first that there was too much commotion (huh? why commotion?) for a recording and then later, that they lacked funds to record, although they spent huge amount of funds in wiretaps), the police were brutal in their interrogation and she was exhausted. They asked her to imagine the murder of Meredith at the hands of Lumumba. She did so. They told her she was traumatized and just did not remember that night but that they had absolute proof she was there. After hours of that, she became disorientated and exhausted and simply did what they asked.
Many of us believe Knox over Mignini who is a known and diabolical liar. He prosecuted and charged 20 people, citizens in good standing, doctors, business men, etc., of participating in satanic cult killings of couples smooching in their cars, even though ballistics showed that the same gun was used in each of those serial murders. He was convicted of corruption over that and the charges were all dismissed. So I cannot believe Mignin's version and am more apt to believe Knox's based on the total picture of this case.
Thus, her implication of an innocent man was based on the same environmental factors that caused her to implicate herself. Therefore, since many believe she was inappropriately pressured, forced to implicate herself, many also believe she was inappropriately pressured and forced to implicate Lumumba.
So, while an innocent man was subjected to an unfair arrest and jail for a brief period, his name smeared for awhile, Knox suffered worse. Because after all, as soon as Mignini realized that Lumumba's alibis held and the evidence excluded him while pointing to an unrelated, fourth person, he quickly adapted his fantastical theory to fit a satanic sex ritual involving Knox, Sollecito and Guede, instead of Lumumba and Lumumba was cleared.
In other words, what Knox said about Lumumba was terrible but so was what she said about herself and the reason for both statements is the same one, one that many feel excuses her actions.

All the men in my family have been military, as far back as I can go, on both sides. My brothers both entered the army very young, 18 and 19 years of age. But they went in as boys. They came out as men. A 20 year old girl from Seattle going to a foreign country alone, without a unit beside her, having freedom without the discipline of the military to guide her, I just think that's very different. But I can understand how what you have gone through makes calling Knox a kid feel like an insult. I hope you know no one here means to do that at all. Much respect for you and your warriors. :heartbeat:
