These grandiose thoughts are not quite normal either. MHOO
Welcome to the thread, Speculaytor. It is a terrible crime, unthinkable, really. MC was deluded, clearly. How much so remains to be seen. His stated reasoning is confused and nonsensical, IMO. He believed (apparently) a mixed up, cherry-picked, buzz-word-loaded "something" culled from rabid politics, different conspiracy theories, and various religious concepts and cobbled together by AI algorithms. Wild, if true. Terrible. Terrifying.

I can't begin to understand him. I know that I will never forget his crimes. It shakes my trust in things.

I thought Qanon was a political conspiracy group? This article states that Coleman believed his wife and kids were going to grow into monsters, serpent possessed or something!! He was saving the world by killing them? He stabbed them both so many times. Horrific. I pray they were drugged, and unaware of what happened to them! Sounds like Schizophrenia to me, if he truly thought they were growing into monsters.

Santa Barbara Man Charged with Killing His Children in Mexico

MC stated he was enlightened by QAnon conspiracy theories... but seems his idea of serpent DNA was coming from visions and signs he was receiving. IMO, serpent DNA might be linked to a conspiracy theory of lizard people which I recall from 1998 UK conspiracy book "The Biggest Secret."

From the link:

Coleman explained to authorities that he was "enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife... possessed serpent DNA and had passed it onto his children." He believed he was saving the world from monsters, the affidavit states.

THIS.
The only person I know who is also way down the Q rabbit hole is an alcoholic.
It doesn't fit for me personally. The people I know well that are into the conspiracy theories don't fit into a typical addiction category. One friend in particular is a very intelligent, very family oriented guy.

I was just about to post this link. Court sketches and heartbreaking photos of mom and her babies.
It sickens and angers me so much when an adult makes the decision to kill a child. They know it’s wrong and no matter what excuse they’re telling themselves to do it for, is complete BS. Why is it that they won’t just kill themselves to spare the life of an innocent, helpless child who still has their whole life ahead of them to live. No one gets to make that decision. This guy had to have at least one moment of clarity and consciousness to say no to himself and let those children live. Why didn’t he just walk off a cliff or blow his head off to spare what he was planning to do to them.
IMO, he isn’t sick, he’s just another cold blooded murderer who should fry in the electric chair for what he did.

How absolutely narcissistic of him to believe that others are the monsters but not him.

I also think the life of his wife was in danger -- especially since she allegedly passed on the "serpent DNA." What did that make her? And now without her children, who knows what the outcome could have been had MC not been apprehended...

Matthew Coleman Indicted for Allegedly Killing Kids Over QAnon Theories, Eligible for Death Penalty

9/8/2021

Coleman is being held at a federal prison after his arrest, and PEOPLE learned earlier this month that he is being held in protective custody so that he doesn't interact with other inmates.

"He is in his cell about 23 hours a day," said a source with direct knowledge of his incarceration. "He only sees his public defender. And he can't have many personal effects in his cell. He's got nothing but a Bible."

Coleman has not yet entered a plea. The public defender's office has not returned PEOPLE's calls for comment.
Interesting. He was so Hell bent on brutally slaughtering his precious, helpless children because he was c*** sure they were monsters and it was HIS job to save the world from them. But now that he’s been caught, he suddenly has to examine his legal options to try and save his own sorry a**.
His poor wife, in all her grief, if I were her, I’d want to kill him with my bare hands.

Agree 100%, she was next. Unbelievable.

It's odd tho, that he drove off with the children. Most family anhiliators seem to kill their spouse and children at home.

I agree that the lizard people conspiracy is separate and older than QAnon. The Nashville bomber was a lizard people conspiracist.

You're right, Curious Me. He didn't mention God or visions in his confession. He said he was "enlightened by the Illuminati and Q Anon. I must have conflated his confession with his SM posts about his daughter's birth. Thank you for the correction! My apologies to the thread. This case is confusing enough without me, making it worse..

quote from ABC news “The affidavit further stated: "M. COLEMAN explained that he was enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife, A.C. possessed serpent DNA and had passed it onto his children. M. COLEMAN said that he was saving the world from monsters." Link: Santa Barbara man confessed to killing his kids with spear gun, cited QAnon theories, FBI says

Illuminati conspiracy theories stem from scriptures in the Bible related to the Nephalim. Many Q followers believe that the New World Order is made up of Illuminati, who are Nephalim with the dna of Satan. This is also the reason many Q followers refuse to take the vaccine because they believe that the New World Order is trying to inject the public with satanic DNA. They also believe that there is a tie to the New World Order and the anti-Christ coming to usher in the events of the book of Revelation.

Biblical Facts:
The Nephalim show up in the Bible during the time of Noah and they were the reason for the flood. The Nephalim line derived from angels and demons having sex and impregnating humans. (Genesis 6) The Nephalim show up again later in scripture when the Israelites were spying out land that God had promised them. When they came back from spying, they stated that there were giants and men of great strength from the line of Anak (Numbers 13) and they were scared to fight them.

While the factual biblical references are part of Judeo Christian historical beliefs, the conspiracy theories about the Illuminati and existence with Nephalim super humans with demonic DNA is not a biblical fact or widely held belief among Christians. IMO it is unfortunate that many have bought in to this and have been living in fear of the New World Order ushering in the events of the book of Revelation.

Welcome @crimespotting. As much as I want to discuss this subject further, we were asked not to go too much in depth on the "Serpent or Demon Seed" subject. It's just that this thread got closed for clean up before. See the Mod's Post #311 of this thread.

"At this point, we all believe that he had a psychotic break," a longtime family friend tells PEOPLE. "It's the only explanation that makes any sense to us. Something clicked, and he did something that was incomprehensible. Before August 7, we thought his life was damn near perfect."
Matthew Coleman's Family Members 'Believe He Had a Psychotic Break' and Are Standing by Him: Source
I've always been leery of believing people just suddenly "snap". I tend to think they've thought of doing what they finally did on previous occasions. They've showed some indication that led up to it. I'd consider a "psychotic break" might be different, but even this article says there are warning signs that just aren't recognized by others at the time leading up to the person's break.

Home | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness "Rather than seeing psychosis as something that out-of-the-blue one day “breaks” or “snaps,” it’s important to realize that possible warning signs can occur along a continuum of time. The problem is, people often don’t recognize psychosis until an individual reaches a point of crisis."

It's so hard to understand how he was so divided in his thoughts without realizing it. I find this case incredibly sad. It looks like he was an involved caring father. So hard to understand, or believe the reasons he gave for such a heartless act of violence against his own children. :(

Matthew Taylor Coleman's Family 'Believe He Had a Psychotic Break' | PEOPLE.com

"When the friend asked Coleman if he was done having kids, Coleman wrote "No. I want at least 4." The friend then asked how he could handle having four young children. "I'm immune to body fluids at this point," Coleman responded. "We're potty training Kaleo and I change Roxy's diapers all the time. doesnt phase [sp] me."'

Oh dear, I'm sorry. Hope you do get verified and can process some here. You knew MTC. What a Shock, yes, you must be stunned. It must be so hard as a friend to deal with all the sadness. I see why you need to talk about it all, and need to get more in depth to understand why his thinking led him down such a path. Prayers for you and all his circle of family and friends. Please stick around if it helps.
