Has anyone found Robert's facebook page?

What a nightmare. So sorry for him and his family. I hope he turns up at a good hospital soon and ends up okay.

"Robert was found lying on "Los Tules" avenue, in superblock 247, wounded...He has been seen in the Cielo Nuevo subdivision, very close to Arco Norte, better known as Periférico de Cancún, but before that, he was at the Jesús Kumate Rodríguez hospital, where he was helped by the staff since he was beaten, after being assaulted."

I mapped these location (with much wrestling with shopping-agenda Gmaps), they are all three pretty close together.

The main red pin shows where he was found after being robbed.
The red pin marked A. is the hospital.
The b&w B. pin is the apparent location of the sighting after he left hospital.

I assume he was not discharged from the hospital - or was he expected to contact friends/the embassy himself? Mexicans tend to assume everyone is staying with friends or relations.

What worries me is that large area of undeveloped green space to the north.

is it possible he's in a hospital somewhere? he was definitely having a medical event - very worrisome

"He doesn’t have a shirt on doesn’t have shoes, as reported in that video,” Lauren said. “He just, he couldn’t even speak in like coherent sentences. And the things that he was saying were just not true. His eyes looked like crazed. I think there’s something wrong. He also had like lesions on his body. That’s what it’s been described as in that group.”

The look in his eyes reminded of my mother who passed suffering from Alzheimer's. I suppose it's possible he's having some type of mental heath issue, a head injury or maybe someone slipped him a dangerous drug?
I feel terrible for his daughter and family. They must be so worried.

RSBM. Those are also my two thoughts, but I admit I haven't read anywhere else besides here about his case.

Thanks for that link. Under FAQ I found the FB page of the Mexican reporter who initially picked Robert up on June 29 and called ambulence/police. The full, unedited video of the incident is there (it goes on so long I didn't view it all).

He's also posting regular updates requesting people look out for Robert. That's how some sightings have come in, including photos of Robert wearing a white t-shirt in the dark, and sitting on a bench (barefoot).

I think an announcement of a reward would get the Mexicans to not just walk by, but stay with him until someone else arrives. Hopefully not too late.

ETA, I'd say it's clear he's mentally unwell, not temporarily under the influence.

ETA: Robert has been wandering around the Mexican city of Cancun, not the tourist resorts well out of town. Very few English speakers would be in town. Plus, he looks nothing like he did in photos before. I hope Texas search and family are focussing on the Mexican population: putting flyers on telephone poles, etc.

Watching that video makes me wonder if he suffered a brain injury when he was assaulted.

I pray Rob is found and is okay, after reading his facebook and comments from family and friends he is a great guy!! He is very familiar with Mexico and has other homes there, hopefully that will help him!

I hope his family is there already, or on their way to search for him. The one thing they have going for them is that it's a tourist town and this is very bad for business. That may inspire some additional cooperation. If they haven't already contacted the American Consulate in Cancun, they should do so immediately.

My advise would be for them to hire a local Mexican, English-speaking detective. A few cases I've followed in Mexico have done that.

Such a guy can talk 'off the record' to police, hospital, etc (unlike the embassy), he can spread the word with taxi drivers of a reward, follow up leads without intimidating people like the police would, etc, etc.

Cancun police aren't going to assign a full-time detective to this.

My thoughts are with Rob's family tonight, how scary for them. Hoping the gal from Texas EquiSearch is able to find him. If she hooks up with the reporter in Mexico, who has been helping his daughter, I'll bet they find him.

His daughter is involved in searching for Robert. She’s posted information on Fb regarding the searches.

Are they able to check his bank accounts?

That’s an excellent idea. Whatever they do, they had better hurry. Poor man.
