I think EC may have been emotionally needy and seeking attention from his parents. Not necessarily psychotic. I also feel like these parents self-absorption may have made him ramp up his attention-seeking behavior. It’s really hard to say. But if she just ignored his texts like it seems she did, it’s not hard for me to imagine there was a serious lack of love and care provided to the child. I’m speculating of course. The fact that they were more concerned with themselves after the shooting instead of rushing to their son’s aid is telling and proves my point I think. JMO

“Gonna get drunk and ride my horse”
“I hate my job”

She sounds like a teenager.

Defense atty just now

“Why is this doing this now? I’m going to kill myself.”

She’s struggling to work the screen for the exhibits.

This defense lawyer is giving my anxiety anxiety. I can't believe what I am watching. Is she going to be okay??

Worst case of parental negligence leading to a murder that I have ever seen (excluding cases where the negligent parents were the murderers themselves).

Who knew?

Shannon Smith, Jennifer Crumbley's attorney, was Larry Nasser's attorney. Now, I remember her pleading for Larry Nasser on the grounds that he didn't think he should have to sit through all the victim's testimonies, and the judge in that case making WITHERING remarks at her.

WOW @RickshawFan ! THANK YOU for this embedded video of The Judge’s awesome reply to Nasser’s self-indulgent letter of complaints.

O/T - I was just researching/”DuckDuckGoing” about Shannon Smith - as I was curious about her background history and what others thought of her trial skills while watching Court TV today - then when I checked in on Websleuth‘s and Jennifer Crumbley - I clicked on your post and it took me to such a satisfactory display of a Judge upholding the constitution and explaining how a real human being in the position of “Judge” would think, believe and act.

P.S. Thanks again for that little gem. I need all the reaffirming evidence I can get to counter my belief that this world has become over run by Malignant Narcissism.

I feel like she’s doing this on the inside and so am I at this point.

Same! The Judge is now clarifying to the witness the questions that defense is trying to ask. Mind blowing! I literally just turned this on.

I gasped when she said that. Her lack of professionalism is BANANAS.

Right now, it seems like her argument is that they may not have had a good enough signal to receive EC's text messages re: demons and people being in the house. She is talking about how sometimes texts won't show up until they return to an area with a stronger signal. The thing is...If her next message to him isn't until the following day (and has literally nothing to do with the messages he sent the night before), that means that there were over 12 hours with zero response. Implying that she maybe possibly could have called him from work would still have shown on EC's call logs. And she can't use the excuse that maybe she called from work during times when she's at the barn? Sigh. I am really struggling with this defense attorney's style of questioning and over-apologizing.

It would have been interesting to know what cell provider the lady at the barn (Kira, maybe?) had. If she had the same provider, that would blow that entire theory up since she is constantly messaging with her from there.
But… it didn’t seem like her husband had any problems getting her texts and responding right away when he was out taking care of Billy at the barn.

Good closing question by prosecutor - JC expressed once that she hates her son affected so many lives then it was all about horses. It is so bizarre.

Defense atty now saying she has MANY objections to an officer who will testify next. The defense atty is decompensating rapidly as this trial proceeds. Judge is now acting as a social worker as she sees defense atty is struggling. There’s co-counsel sitting at the defense table - is he helping at all? JMO

He's doing nothing but rubbing the defense's shoulders and whispering in her ear.

This defense attorney is way too high strung for this. I am speechless.

Defense atty crying now after state asked that she not make inappropriate jokes and comments about “kill myself.” Pros McDonald said she’s getting texts from victims who were upset by those comments. Defense atty blames prosecutors for parading all this pics and videos of the shooting to upset victims.

Judge told everybody to go home!

Wow. Defense counsel needs the weekend to get it together. I agree with the state as far as the comment "I'm going to kill myself" - that shocked me when Defense counsel said that. Highly inappropriate. IMO. I wish the Judge would control her court room more. So many interruptions; speaking over each other and the Judge at times as well.

MOO; MOO and More MOO

Also, not sure if it is just me - but sometimes when Defense objects I am not clear on what her objection is. I believe the state even had to ask a few times.

MOO; MOO.

I would add the horse talk at that point was sell sell sell.

I don't know at that point what her intention was. Was it to attempt to provide a deposit for a private attorney?

I believe it was earlier today that the prosecution disclosed that Jennifer was googling clinical depression at 3:00 a.m. one evening. She's obviously not going to win mother of the year, but that says to me she was somewhat worried about her child's sadness.

Horse texts vs. EC texts is a stretch for me. There are no comparisons per se to compare to conversations and pillow talk between parents.

There was nothing brought in to evidence (yet!) that says she knew he was going to shoot up the school. That's going to be very hard for the state to prove imo.

What a messy court room. We need some maturity and calmness, the defense attorney is really on the edge. Is this her first case?

I’m so turned off by the defence. She is not doing her client any favours.
I don’t think I’ve had a reaction like this before. I’m pretty neutral with lawyers. Yikes on bikes.

Wow, sorry I missed court today! Does anyone know if it was taped on any of the YouTube channels?
