My sister's friend was murdered in broad daylight in a park by a man who was angry because she had advised his girlfriend to leave him. It happens. MO

After going over some of the previous videos and articles, the picture becomes a little clearer.

When the husband couldn't get her on the phone Monday morning, he went home at about 10:30 and when the door was locked and her purse inside, he figured she'd probably run to town with a friend and expected to return quickly. He went into town and couldn't locate her.

So after he couldn't find her in town, he returned home and still no Amy. He started to worry because she knows he always comes home for lunch. Her hubby called his in-laws and they came over to the house to wait with him. His in-laws told him not to worry unless she fails to come home to meet the boys at the bus.

When Amy hadn't returned by the time the school bus arrived, the husband called LE to report Amy missing. It wasn't until a day or so later that the husband learned about a black pick-up truck pulling out of his driveway. He said he knew who it was, his cousin, and he called him and the cousin said he'd stopped by, but no one answered the door.

Now earlier the spokeswoman for the family said yesterday (?) she and her husband were handing out fliers in the neighborhood and again talked to the neighbor who had spotted the black truck. It was then that the neighbor told them that when the truck left, there was a man and two smaller females.

I think it was then, yesterday morning that LE went back to the house with dogs and the dogs picked up the trail to the cousin's property. LE said in the presser this a.m., that the dogs were not police dogs, they were 'private.' I think they said they were happy for their help.

What a sad and senseless crime. Five kids in all are going to be without their moms. Just because one person got angry. :(

It seems to me the minds of this forum could have solved this case before le! Does it seem Unusual to just involve your cousin in law? There is way more to this story then meets the eye!

Ty for welcoming me but what I meant is by the way they are describing AH(RIP) is so well liked and and such kept to herself why did this maniac involve her? Why didn't le go to family on Monday eve when they found out about pick up spotted in drive? Also just my opinion why does every case get treated like a run away or they just left their family for the first 48 hours? How many lives can we save if we don't assume every teenager or person just took off? 2300 people a day go missing we have to do something! Or when people see a teenager that looks like she was being forced to go somewhere shouldn't the public do something ? Not ignore & tell news the day she comes up deceased come on people keep your eyes and mouths open it's not always the right thing to do minding your business we could save a life!

Thank you, Fran. That makes it all a lot more clearer - I had not heard that the inlaws came over and told James to wait until later, etc.

I hope the fact that these were "private" dogs doesn't come into play.

One can see a quick lawyer arguing that all the evidence be thrown out since the dogs were LE dogs and the 4th amendment rights weren't able to be evoked.

Newbie poster, oldie "lurker" here. I've read every post til the wee hours... wondering if I missed this question/answer: Did the cousin arrive in the black truck with one "small female passenger" and pick up Amy Sue at her home? Do you all think that Amy left with the cousin (or cousin and girlfriend) willingly?

Can we be sure that the cousin's girlfriend hadn't been inside the house with Amy Sue--that she had unexpectedly visited her that morning (having gotten a ride there)? since no other car was at the property...

Did Amy Sue go with him (them?) under threat or gunpoint? I'm wondering if she sensed any danger in going along? Or did the cousin AND his girlfriend present some pressing... or pleasant, scenario that would entice Amy Sue to leave the house abruptly w/o checking with James, her husband?

I just read James came home for lunch every day... Seems the cousin would know this... The alleged perp may never reveal the circumstances of having both women in his truck occurred. Seems we seldom hear in detail how victims are persuaded to get into vehicles (by their killers) and are left to wonder how he lured her/them for a ride to her death.

Someone upthread asked if Amy and the "girlfriend" were friends... acquainted. If James had an active friendship with his cousin, makes sense Amy Sue would know the girlfriend, since it's reported they lived together. But we're not sure about that either at this point.

If both the cousin AND his girlfriend arrived to pick up Amy Sue, maybe they said her help was needed somewhere, somehow... But that would imply she was coerced by the cousin AND the girlfriend. Or both women were duped and knew nothing (and this was premeditated).

It's so sad to think that if she'd NOT GONE with them, she might still be here. Will we ever know? Sorry to write so long--it's harder to write short. Thanks for each thoughtful post.

I don't see that as a problem. The DA doesn't even really need the dog handlers to testify and if they are credential dogs then they still will have had the right training and paperwork to prove it. These were private search dogs who often find missing and deceased bodies. I am sure they all have paperwork showing the training they have gotten. I bet they are certified dogs.

It is obvious that the dogs were right on point because that is when LE found the crime scene. It will be hard to argue that the dogs did not have the proper training when they made a correct hit.

I think the DA has a lot of evidence besides the dogs to prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt.

IMO

Yet another senseless tragedy. My heart is broken for these families. I am so frustrated I really don't even know how to express myself.

What difference does it make if the dogs were privately owned? I'm sure that the dogs Tim Miller brings in when they go out and search are privately owned dogs as well. I guess I don't understand what the point is that you're trying to make here. Usually when LE goes out looking for a missing person and there are volunteers there is a mix of dogs. I'm almost certain there was a mix of privately owned dogs brought in on the HaLeigh Cummings searches. I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm just trying to understand with all due respect.

Welcome, 4carlie!!!!

:seeya:

I, too, wonder about the three of them leaving together. It seems that perhaps she knew and was friends with the GF. And since she left her purse, I'm thinking she thought they were going to run an errand or something like that and then returning shortly.

I have a feeling that she was not forced out of the house. Of course, I could be wrong and it's just a gut feeling -- that she would have bolted. Maybe I guess it's because I feel that most adults know that your greatest chance of surviving is NOT going with someone with a weapon, or who is trying to abduct you, because once you're alone and away from anyone else, then your chances of surviving are nil.

I don't know if we'll ever know the whole story unless JLB tells all. Even then, who knows if it will be the truth.

:(

Well after listening to the PC, and LE/MSM reporting that James and Junior are cousins, then I'll just buy the fact that they aren't step brothers.

  • #518
WHY??? Why would he kill 2 women, WHY?
I just read this and do not understand WHY.........
so senseless!

Don't you just hate when the media reports findings before LE has a chance to notify the family?????

Family learns about new twists in Amy Henslee's case from media, not police

The gut-wrenching sobs of Amy Henslee's mother could be heard from the kitchen as she stood by the television and listened to a reporter who knew more about her missing daughter's case than she did.

The television reports from Thursday evening are how the family first heard that police found a trailer with blood in it.

The trailer belongs to a cousin of Amy's husband, James.

Family members and friends huddled around in the living room and watched the news. How could they be blindsided like that, several asked angrily.

How could the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department not notify Amy Henslee's family first and keep them informed before the media, demanded close family friend Wendy Boyd.
