Well that's odd. If the nephew saw B in the car 8:10 AM (alive I assume), what happened after that? If she was alive, he would have had to kill her in the car (vs. out in public). Meaning the chances of a dead body in the car are pretty great.

1 - if he killed her prior, then put her in the car "sleeping".
2 - if he killed her in the car, then dumped her

Wouldn't a cadaver dog hit on that pretty quickly? I have a hard time wrapping my head around him killing her somewhere else then dumping her. That wouldn't be an accident (beating) IMHO.

MOO

Mel

I think she was too badly beaten to explain away, and she had to be taken back to her mother. I think he had been stalling on this. I think he kept her longer than expected.

I don't think he killed her in the car. I think he wanted to make it look like kidnappers had her, leading investigators away from the site oh the abandoned car. He could have dropped off the nephew and gone to a secluded area of the park, near the river, or into an abandoned warehouse somewhere, strangled her and then dumped her.

Two quick things to add:
First, I am pretty sure that, on his Facebook page, dad stated he was a student at that community college. Anyone else remember that? Can't find the link to the page to confirm. Not sure what that means, but if he was a student, he would be familiar with the location and it is a connection.
Second, as far as Lane being seen fleeing with a firearm, that is so bizarre, I don't even know what to make of it. Where was the gun when the police showed up? Is that why they are searching the mom's house, because he may have hidden the gun there somewhere? Or, is it possible, given the likeness between the composite and dad, that the witness mistook the fleeing suspect for dad. And in actuality this witness corroborates the father's story. Long-shot, I know, but just a possibility...

Yes, he does say on his facebook that he studied there. I would also think it's possible that a witness might have mistaken the carjacker for Lane, (if, of course, there was a carjacker.)

Volunteer Gordon Jones, 45, of Detroit hoped for the best but braced for the worst.
"If it were my daughter, I would be looking anywhere and everywhere," he said, as he looked toward a swathe of abandoned buildings.
Jones, a contractor by trade, put his skills to work this morning, entering whatever abandoned home he could access. His flannel shirt covered in burrs and hands protected by workers gloves, he used a flashlight to peer under the porch of a two-story, boarded-up white house whose exterior was riddled with discarded couch cushions and rotting furniture.
"My heart told me to go where other people don't want to go," he said.

It is cold out there today, bless the hearts of all those volunteers, looking for a baby they have never met.

Which spelling of his first name does he use on FB? if I'm allowed to ask?

His name is spelled on FB as it is on the MDOC website: Dandre.

Yes, it is cold - 36* - and just started to snow where I live - about 10 miles north of Detroit.

According to Michigan prison records, Lane was jailed for more than three years on drug and firearm possession charges stemming from a 2003 arrest and was paroled in 2007. He also served a more than four-year probation starting in 1996 after being convicted of assault with intent to commit armed robbery and a conspiracy charge.
A pre-sentencing investigation report from 2007 shows that Lane, a father of three other children from three previous relationships, sought to shield his incarceration from his children. A probation officer wrote that Lane did not want his children to come to see him in prison because it was not a place for them to visit.

Thank goodness we found out he was paroled in 2007. After all that talk the other night about 2009 I was totally confused!

My question too. I'm really curious now about if he was running from the area where the "carjackers" took the vehicle or running from the area where the car was found.:waitasec: I hope we get a clarification on this quickly.

And so it wasn't the kidnappers that had a gun, but HE who had the gun. And, as we have seen and compared, the kidnapper he described to the police artist was actually his own description. And he is the one who probably abandoned the car. So where does that leave poor little Bianca??

Stick a fork in D'Andre, I think he is about done.

Detroit Police investigators also were using two bloodhounds in the search at about 1 p.m. A marked Detroit Police SUV and three dark-colored, unmarked vehicles followed an officer and his dog from the neighborhood around the home of Bianca's mother. BBM

That is chilling - is the implication that he may have taken Bianca back to her own home and left her there? How would the father explain that? That the kidnappers had returned her to her mother? How would the kidnappers know where to bring her? How does this guy think??

I think the implication is that there are changing stories from more than just Dandre. Remember, first we heard that Bianca had only spent the night, then the week, then she had been there since the 26th and was planning to spend the month with the father that she allegedly barely knew.

I would hate to think that mom or uncle had anything to do with whatever happened, but I have gotten back to the point, where I don't trust anyone in this one.

Anyone else wondering why this missing child case hasn't been reported on national news? Nothing on the morning shows like Today or GMA. Nothing on HLN or CNN that I've seen, either. Will Nancy Grace will be covering this case tonight?

I missed this article....
http://www.freep.com/article/201112...troit-family-pleads-return-missing-2-year-old
"Everything is confusing and cloudy," said Weaver, describing Lane as a longstanding member of the family. "Half of the family believes Dre, and the other half have their doubts."
also..
He said Bianca was spending the week with her father and added that Lane was on his way to their home at the time of the reported carjacking to pick up more clothes for his daughter because he and the girl's mother agreed that she could stay with him for a month.

BBM.....a month? that seems a little long for a 2 yr old to be away from mom doesn't it?

Yikes, it sure does. Maybe they were thinking about easing into shared custody, but he has 6 other kids!! All too often in these casees, extended custody leads to abuse and big trouble.

I wonder if that was decided just prior to the call made to the Mother the night before, saying they were coming for mor clothes. I guess he figured it would take a month for those bruises to heal.
