Feeling sad for Carnel and Im the only member here

I feel sad for him too. That poor baby had so many loving family members surrounding him, and yet no one could save him. I am not blaming them at all, I am just sad for all of them. He was such a precious sweetheart. :rose:

I am debating about going to the Memorial Service on Sunday. I want to go to support Carnel but I am not sure how I would respond to Jaimee. I firmly believe that if she would have kicked AB out of the house then Carnel would be alive today.

I would go, Carnel would know you are there and it will be a healing for the community. I think you might feel worse not going to honor Carnel. For me, anytime I hear the drums, it touches my Spirit and carries me through.

I know how you feel, I was there on the first day of searches, and all the subsequent days, and I was so pissed about what I found out after! But, i will go for Carnel, and not anyone else.

From reading the article, it appears her family knew of the abuse in the home but no intervention? Why? Can someone explain this to me? Was this dude an important figure with the "rez" or what? The article is talking about Carnel's birth father abusing JC badly enough for her to be hospitalized. AB is not Carnel's birth father.

While I haven't gone to any memorial services for the missing, I have gone to anniversary vigils. My guess is there will be a large enough of a number of people there you probably won't have to address mom directly. If you do, a simple I'm sorry for your loss would be sufficient.

Due to the animosity towards mom, she may not be there - I've seen that happen before - or she may be heavily surrounded by family to protect her from the masses and any inappropriate behavior from strangers at a memorial service.

I never even thought of that! I figured he was so consume with his guilt, he took his life. You are right though, he doesn't have a conscience, why would he kill himself?

BBM - you are exactly right! I don't understand because DV has never happened to me. I do hope to understand to the best of my ability withought having actually gone through it. There are people on this thread, like yourself, who have tried to help us understand. For that I am grateful, because I believe if we don't TALK about it and try to UNDERSTAND, DV remains behind doors, victims don't come forward, and the cycle repeats itself.

That being said - I am still angry about this beautiful angel's senseless death.

Anthony Bennett is scheduled to appear for a preliminary examination in federal court in Bay City at 10 a.m. Friday.

Carnel's family has scheduled a memorial service for the boy this coming Sunday, July 15, at the Soaring Eagle Casino concert hall beginning at 2 p.m. The tribal casino is near Mount Pleasant in Isabella County's Chippewa Township.
