"Remember when we were in the sidebar, and I told you all what you could and couldn't do on my record?" the judge asked the defense Friday. "Okay. Thank you."
It was supposed to be a routine hearing, but nothing about the Charlie Bothuell case ever seems to go as expected.
At moments on Friday, the indigency hearing became tense.
"You indicated in your bond hearing that your client is working," the judge said to Charles Bothuell IV's lawyer. "He has money that he has the ability take care of himself. You are going to have to convince me that your client is indigent." ...

Expert witness on the stand (unsure who this female person is) . . . she did not obtain med history from parents, nor interview parents, nor interview Monique. Prior behavior and history of child when making a determination of child abuse, she looks at it. Her diagnosis of child abuse - defense asking about the expert's "methodology" for child abuse opinion. Many objections from the State - DT asks if english is this person's second language.
Expert asks what do you mean by an assaultive child? DT said methodology of diagnosis, do you take in consideration if child is assaultive, assaults another family member is that relevant? Expert says "assaultive" is very vague term, perform medical history (ie: hospital, psychiatric illness, physical illness).
Judge is admonishing DT for cutting off the judge while speaking.
Child having psychiatric illness does not affect her opinion of child being victim of child abuse, mental illness in the child does not change her opinion of child being psychologically abused.
Expert is not aware of him being diagnosed as ADHD, didn't change her diagnosis of him being victim of psychological abuse.
She's not aware of history of violence in school - didn't change diagnosis.
blood work normal, doesn't remember blood pressure or oxygen levels. He was diagnosed with scabies in the emergency dept - possible diagnosis. Any other infections? not that she can remember.
aware of physical regiments of a football player? baseball player? no I'm not

She has made statements about excessive exercise regimes? Judge asks how would this witness know she's not a sports medicine excercise specialist she's a doctor.

how much food does not consume before child abuse occurs? not just how much food - how many calories, weight, height are factors in child abuse.

Hospital records upon discharge show diagnosis of scabies, child abuse, skin problem. He was treated with scabies medicine, eucerine cream & hydrocortozone cream.
Someone is whispering into the mike of the camera asking "have they even looked at each other? no they haven't looked at each other nor spoken". Video then pans to mother and father (I assume) both sitting at defense counsel table. I assume person who was talking into mike is camera operator.

Meanwhile Charlie's Dad turs to ask a lady behind him something - he is turning toward the direction of his wife but she is out of camera range

wenwe4, thanks for the summation. I watched about an hour of the hearing, some when it started and the last 45 minutes before adjournment. I think it's disgusting that these parents want to put their son through this trial. Hasn't he already endured enough? How cruel for them to make him relive his abuse and torture to save their own hides 
FYI: The gentleman with the shaved head who is seated with the Prosecutor is lead detective on the case, Paul Pesmark from DPD's Child Abuse Unit. There are several video clips that include Pesmark during the early days of the investigation when young Charlie was found hiding in the basement of his father's condominium. DH and I have met Paul - very nice man who takes his job of protecting Detroit youth seriously.
FYI: The gentleman with the shaved head who is seated with the Prosecutor is lead detective on the case, Paul Pesmark from DPD's Child Abuse Unit. ^ I had to turn NG's program off because Mr. Bothuell's attorney was spewing venomous lies about young Charlie and didn't have his facts straight regarding Dr. Nazer's time in the U.S. and her expertise. Attacking the victim who is still a child? This strategy will backfire big-time.
I actually thought that I might like to attend the hearing when my DH is home on Fridays. I wouldn't drive into downtown Detroit alone, but DH said he'd be glad to accompany me to the courthouse. After watching about an hour of the hearing last Friday and Nancy Grace's show last night, I'm not sure that I really want to subject myself to this nonsense.
The latest from last night's edition of NG: Young Charlie was with his biological mother when he was "missing". WTF? Where did that come from? I don't think it's true because I recall LE having checked with her, and she said that she had not seen her son since he went to live with his father two years earlier. I hope these parents get caught in this tangled web of lies they're weaving. :stormingmad:

Well, suddenly, the screen disappeared along with the note to follow with the reporter. I'm doing a quick search and finding nothing. It's possible it may not be streamed as Charlie V is supposed to testify.
