Could it have been someone that met Chelsea through the other family's fundraising/awareness/ search events?

That's what I wondering too. If the perp in Julia's murder may have kept an eye on them from afar then taken his chances that night.

Julia Niswender was killed in off campus housing apartment near her college. Chelsea Bruck was said to have been very much there for the sisters as they mourned, mentioned in an MSM report from the benefit the families held together. If this POI was familiar through Julia's college and kept an eye on the families, he maybe even stalked them on FB and whatever Chelsea posted on their PAP's FB. I know this is making associations that may not be there, and it's done with a lack of information, but either for the need to go somewhere, in some direction with answers or because it does seem possible? Julia Niswender's case has few leads...

IIRC, Julia attended/graduated from Monroe Community College before matriculating as a junior at Eastern Michigan University. She had only been "away at school" about four months. Julia still had many ties to the Monroe area. Ypsilanti is not far from Monroe (about 35 miles), and it wouldn't surprise me if Julia went home regularly for a weekend or had frequent visitors from home at her apartment near campus. The suspect in Julia's homicide could easily be someone that she knew from "home" and not necessarily someone she had met on campus. :moo:

That is a very good question to pose. I have heard Perps will attend fundraisers, searches etc. of their victims.

Someone saw or sees something and comes forward.
Surveillance video ID's perp and/or his vehicle.
Forensics yields something that ID's perp.
Social media, phone records reveals perp.
Thefts - car, money (perp on the run might need).
Recent confrontations, attempted abductions, etc.
Gumshoe detective work finds connection other victims.
Jail house snitch or someone seeking favor with LE offers up info.
Perp boasts to other(s).
Someone who doesn't belong noticed around family events.

Funerals, memorials, vigils, prayer services, etc., and probably other family-oriented events where the perp is able to observe family members spending time together. Chelsea's sister is getting married this month. I can't help wondering if the perp will make an (uninvited) appearance :moo:

And not necessarily as an uninvited guest. Perhaps delivering something....setting something up, etc.

I have been told by LE and investigators that sometimes it's people who seemingly have loose connections to the family that get very deeply involved. (If they have had a similar loss that is understandable). But that is just one theory of course. Many other scenarios I'm sure

It's so heartbreaking to think how quickly her sister's wedding is approaching and without her best friend, her sister Chelsea by her side, how a time that is supposed to be filled with joy, laughter, celebration and many happy memories made, will still be those things, but overshadowed by their missing loved one. Praying for a miracle!

^ I believe that Jennifer Niswender is Kassandra's Maid of Honor. I'm sure she will offer much love and support to the bride and her family.

The closeness of the Bruck and Niswender sisters and the fact that both have been struck with tragedy - one young woman murdered, the other missing for nearly three months - is beyond belief.

I have only passed through a few times on this case. I hope my question/observation is not too far out in left field.

Did Chelsea know anyone in the band? I read she followed this band quite closely. I am trying to think of what type of people she would be willing to take a ride with and trust. The allure of meeting up with a band member would qualify.

This is a just a local band, no big deal. Monroe has always had a (struggling, because Monroe) music scene, and I'd guess most of us here know or have known someone in a band. I don't think it would be that huge of a thrill to any local girl to meet up with a local band member just because they're a band member, but I don't know Chelsea or this band so I could be wrong. I'm just speaking in general terms. Guys in bands (metal and classic rock n roll, mostly) are a dime a dozen around here, and we have no "celebrity" musicians, just guys who happen to be in bands.

I'm sorry I haven't had anything to add to the conversation in so long; other things have been keeping me busy. But Monroe still hasn't forgotten Chelsea. I see her purple ribbons everywhere I go, and people are still sharing the fliers pretty regularly from what I can tell. It's frustrating for us locals and I can't imagine how hard it is on the Bruck family and LE working the case. I always have trouble entertaining the idea of foul play in missing persons cases, and I'm still holding out hope that Chelsea will be found safe. Thank you to my fellow Websleuthers for keeping her thread on the first page!

Both Eminem and Kid Rock are MAJOR music stars, nationally and internationally. When they're not touring, both live locally and are very involved in local charities and community endeavors. Just last week, a Rochester teen with terminal cancer wanted to meet Eminem who did so over the weekend before the teen passed away on Monday.

Agreed. I also think those 2 are on an entirely different level of celebrity than your run of the mill local band and I agree there are more than a few in that area, don't forget Ann Arbor is just a hop and skip away and is considered a good sized venue for local bands.

I'm sorry, I think this band/music/celebrity thing is getting off track and it's because of my post! :blushing: I'll try to better explain what I meant:

I thought that TMAN2014 was theorizing (post #777) that Chelsea may have been starstruck and lured away by a band member of PAP. I'm not saying that couldn't have happened. I was saying that I don't think that any of the members of PAP, or any other local Monroe band for that matter, would elicit much excitement in a local young woman beyond what any other guy might. They're just guys who happen to be in bands. They're not Eminem or Kid Rock, and that was my point.

In any case, I think we can probably safely rule out Eminem and Kid Rock as having been involved in Chelsea's disappearance. Sorry for the confusion, I hope this post helps clear things up!

...The human trafficking issue is a big problem in Toledo and surrounding areas. Lt. Webb said last March a Monroe teenager was rescued by police after she was forced into prostitution by three Toledo men.
